I slept undisturbed, and woke up with the alarm at five. Mippies are zooming and bouncing around, and I've been to see the doggies. Shame, Lady had crawled under the cushion in her basket! At first, I thought she'd gone somewhere, but no - she's right there, under the cushion. I just stroked her and talked to her a bit, but left her alone. Luna also doesn't want to leave her basket - no interest in going out for a wee. I refreshed the water in their bowl talked to them a bit and let them be.
My mippies were all crowded behind the door and I had to hold Ziva back, she was very eager to explore!
I left early and arrived at work twenty-five minutes later to find my soil all ready to be loaded into my boot! Awesome!
Ooof! What a day! At work I realised that our storeman has never had the opportunity to understand the professional meaning of the word 'Inventory'. Personally, he's delighted with everything he's learning - he joked the other day that, compared to how we keep record now, what he was taught seems like Primary School level - and now he's graduating. I was under the impression that we would be able to finish all production stock today - but then I saw some bins with who-knows-what-but-it's-definitely-production-stock 'Oh, that? It's always been there, I don't know what it is, we've never counted it' ... sigh.
I desperately need to finish the store systems, so I can start getting stuck into production! Now there's a nightmare of a mess!
I had a long chat with my boss today, about the future of the business. I need to understand where he's planning on taking the business, so that I work towards the same goals. I'm happy to say that we're both on the same track - I had some concerns based on past conversations.
I took the toll road home today, and was home at twenty to six. Well, a little earlier, but that's the first time I looked at the time. It was a smooth drive - no bumper-to-bumper nightmare! First thing I did at home - after letting the mippies out, of course - was to offload the Potting Soil and Compost! Ooof! Heavy stuff!
And then I went to visit the doggies. Poor, poor Lady! She really is not herself at all! She just crawls under blankets and cushions - I put her in my lap to give her some attention, but she started shaking again, so I put her back into her basket and covered her with her blankie. I sat with her and talked to her, while scratching her ears. I told her 'two more sleeps' (holding up two fingers) 'then your mommy and daddy come home!' I wish I could make her understand, she just seems so utterly frightened! I changed their water in both bowls and then sat with Luna - who is clearly not too upset. She's used to being alone in the house - and even for several days when her people are away. She didn't lick my chin today, but put her head in my lap, enjoying the tummy tickles. When I carried her outside, she walked around quite contentedly, looking for the right place for her business, and then widdled. And widdled. And widdled. Ha Ha! Then she went back inside quite leisurely - no rush or pressure. I didn't even try to carry Lady anywhere near the door again - that seems to just terrify her too much! I saw that some of the food had been eaten, which is a good sign.
I considered calling my landlady and ask her to just talk to Lady, so she can hear their voices - but that might just confuse her ever more. Also, my landlady would then probably worry about Lady, spoiling their holiday. They don't go away much or often, and there's nothing they can do anyway - and I am doing all that I can, so why give them cause to worry?
And at least, today, I could take a bit more time with the doggies, since Mewthos wasn't mewling at the door. Probably because I was busy outside before I went to the doggies. I think he needs the reassurance that I'm there, before he feels safe to go for his exploratory walk.
Mippies had a great time outside - and still no trouble when I call them inside! I gave them their treat, plus some Whiskas kibbles as well as some nippies. I also topped up their litter box again - under full family supervision! Ha ha, they watched as I first sprinkled some flea powder, then some bicarb, a bit of lavender powder (they stuff to sprinkle on carpets), then added a healthy load of sand, mixed it all up - and enjoyed the happy look in three mippies eyes!
They're all curled up again, Ziva and Janey on the chair, Mewthos on the sleeper couch. I think they are getting used to my being away during the day, they're not demanding so much attention anymore in the evenings. Oh, they still LOVE getting attention, but they no longer need the reassurance. At least, that's how it seems to me. Well, today, at any rate.
