Rainy Monday

It rained all night and it was still coming down by the bucket-load this morning! I got up nice and early - and changed plans, accommodating the weather. I took out my thick, waterproof black jacket, got a towel and an extra pair of socks, and went off in my gardening shoes - since my safety boots soles' are cracked, letting the water in.

I left very early, it's wasn't even quarter to six, yet. I decided to take the Highway, rather than risk the old road - in this weather, and in the dark, the Kamikaze drivers are really fearsome! The rain came down so strong, I drove at 80 km/h most of the way. As a result, instead of being at work by five past, I arrived at twenty five past. But, I arrived safe and sound!

Predictably, half my staff called in sick or late. Two sick, four late - out of nine total ... I spent half the morning 'herding cats'! Getting everyone to get busy and active ... getting the delivery out ... it really felt like I was trying to herd cats! And there was a definite 'Lady Jane' in the mix! For myself, I allowed myself three cups of coffee at various times during the morning - I normally have only one at work, and only if we have a teleconference or meeting, which isn't every day.

It stopped raining sometime during the morning and I drove home the old road, without rain. At home, Mew was sitting in the kitchen window sill - as he now does every day - waiting for my arrival. The instant I open the passage door, they all three now storm out so fast, all I see is a greyish blur!

I locked the gate and took a shower - which took too long for Mewthos' liking and he came mewling outside the shower door! So, I opened it - funny thing: he wouldn't come into the shower? I wonder why? Ha Ha!

He mewled all through my drying and getting dressed, with Ziva for his Chorus! Only when I finally came and sat outside was he happy! The outside light is working now - cor, it's bright! And its motion detector works for quite a range - all the way to the car! I tested it. Yet it isn't super sensitive, so I can move a little while sitting outside, without triggering it every time.

I also still needed to cook dinner, so I went inside a little earlier than usual - all three mippies followed. So I decided to stuff their tummies and close the front door. They cleaned the bowls! I filled the bowls. They cleaned the bowls. Repeat twice. They polished off four sachets tonight! I'll have to order some more, soon!

Then I was allowed to cook - though not without demands for taste. Since I wasn't eating meat tonight, I gave them a few shavings of cheese I had grated. Not a hit. I had enough to pack a lunch box for tomorrow - I think I'll cook something similar tomorrow night again.

Ziva is demanding a lot of attention tonight, so I had better get onto the bed to accommodate her ...
