Gardening Day

Although I woke up at the first alarm, I only got up at about half past five. I made my coffee and waited for dawn before letting the mippies out - they knew they'd have their day out today, though, since I didn't close the passage door.

I sat outside for quite a long time, it was quite chilly and I simply enjoyed being outside, relaxing. I tried to decide what I should do today, I really should continue with the vegetable bed, the tomatoes will need to get out soon - but they'll be fine another week. I simply didn't feel like working there. The ground was too wet for me to want to be digging in there.

Instead, I continued what I started yesterday: clearing the ground from the house towards the east. I managed to pull out quite a lot of the big, fat roots which I couldn't get out last time around. I cleared a lot, working my way first east to west, then west to east - until the sun had dried the ground too much and I couldn't dig anymore. Then I moved next to the bench, working my way to the north, where I had planted the Vieruurtjie and the Geranium. I managed again to pull out a lot of the grass roots, but there's really a lot of work with little to show. Although I did a lot, it doesn't look like I made much progress.

Sigh, the bed I first started working on, where I planted the succulents, is showing up a fresh crop of weeds - that will need attention soon, again!

I'm feeling unusually lazy this afternoon. Not low on energy, simply lazy. After almost three months of working hard every weekend, I don't think feeling lazy is cause for worry. I've fried myself the dinner intended for last night and taken something more out - either for later tonight or for tomorrow. I'd have liked to plan something ambitious, like maybe making some ... well, they're not meat balls nor are they actually hamburger patty's. They're Frikadellen. But, I don't think I'll feel like going to any trouble tomorrow, so I'm leaving that in the freezer for now. Instead, I've taken out a Schnitzel, which I can either ambitiously crumb or simply fry with a sauce or even without sauce.

I tried taking a nap, but I'm not quite in the mood for that, either. Ah well, such is life.

I went to sit outside with my mippies until it was time for them to come inside. They're in early again, since they've been out the whole day. I gave them a tin of tuna - which they loved! Good to know! Those tins come cheaper than the sachets, so I'll supplement my stash with tuna tins from now on.

Around noon today, I watched Ziva and Lady Jane on the sleeper couch, Ziva was on her back and Janey was bending over her - they were each washing the other! Too darling! Right now, Ziva is in the shelf next to me and Janey and Mewthos are washing each other. When their tummies are full of yummies they always get lovey dovey with one another! I stayed to watch them munch again - Mewthos enthusiasm for food is really a pleasure to watch!

I fried the sausages and ate them as well - sjoe, I've been unusually hungry today. And now it's almost eight and I'm tired ...
