Potty Sunday

Not a good start to the day - I woke up with quite a headache, so I slept in. Around seven, mippies had enough and woke me up with mewls and mips and jumping and burrowing, so I got up, made myself coffee and let them out.

I was happy to see that the Vieruurtjie I planted yesterday, which had drooped almost flat, seems to have recovered. All my re-pots are also standing up straight this morning.

Lady Jane had some fun with birds, spending at least an hour trying to approach birds by creeping along the branch - fortunately the lowest branch of quite a tall tree. The birds, in turn, had their fun by fluttering just out of reach, whenever Lady Jane got near.

The headache was not getting any better, so I had some breakfast and took my migraine cocktail. Eventually I lay down again - and Lady Jane came to investigate, all concern and cuddles.

I'm happy to say that the headache has left. I've hung the first load of laundry and the second is in the machine. Mippies keep coming for cuddles and cuddles and lovies. I've mixed some of the fragranced grains with the sand in their litter box and they are using it.

It's quite cold today - lovely! Ha Ha, I'm just thinking how, in a few months I won't be calling 'cold' lovely anymore, but will long for warm weather! Well, it's overcast today, so it shouldn't get too hot.

I really should put some effort into cleaning my bathroom today ... I don't think I will, though. Lazy housewife, that I am! For now, I'm putting all my energy into the garden, which is needed if I ever want to get to a place of sustainable living. What I mean is, housework produces instant results - I can do it any time, any day, but the garden takes months to produce results, so, if I want everything in some sort of place by summer, then I must tend to the garden now. I can do the inside when it's too cold for outside.

I've started re-potting again. I've re-potted 22 Watermelon seedlings - spread over two pots. Then I re-potted the 2 Broad Beans and added Peas. I'm still busy with the Peas, I placed 6 with the Broad Beans, another 9 into a pot of their own ... and there's no end in sight! Ha Ha, I went a bit Pea nuts! Excuse the pun.

Most of the time, I'm able to get the seedlings out with their seed still attached, but not always. Oh, and the Glupsh is working really well! I'm able to dig much deeper holes for the seedlings than I would with my hands.

Ai, ai, ai ... Mewthos! Was it really necessary to drag my clean, black poncho all the way from the bedroom to the front door? Sigh, now I wish I HAD cleaned the floors!

Cor blimey! I've got a total of 35 Pea plants! Spread across 4 large pots! What was I thinking? If they all survive and produce, I'll be drowning in Peas!

Which, of course, depends on what I can come up with - soon - for their continued growth! The plans I so carefully made last weekend are not going to suffice! I had worked on one pot per variety - not Peas alone taking up four pots! And they are not exactly generously spaced in those pots, they are still quite squashed together. If I want to get lots of fruit (or, in this case vegetables), I'll need to give each plant more space than it has now. Plus still the depth they require.

The Brussel Sprouts, Eggplant and Tomatoes haven't even moved, yet - and I've already filled 12 pots! Oh my word, what have I started here? I don't EVER do normal, do I? This time I may be more organised with my sowing, but it's still getting out of hand! Ha Ha, isn't that just typical?

Sigh, I've started thinning out the carrots as well ... gosh, they are growing by the horde, there's no counting them!

Grin, I'll do anything to avoid washing dishes, even counting carrots!

While I was washing the dishes - yes, of course I eventually did! - my landlord came around and fitted the hose pipe holder as well as the LED light outside! Awesome! It's so lovely to have a landlord who does care, not only for my safety, but my well-being! Such a difference to the last two!

Well, all in all, I filled 13 pots this weekend. When it was time to get mippies in, as always: no trouble! But then, as I was shutting the front door, her Ladyship dashed outside! And she wouldn't come back inside, but demanded I play 'catch' with her ... in the dark! Sigh, not fun! Not fun at all! It took quite some time before she was finally ready to be caught and carried inside! She missed out on the second treat, naughty girl!

When she was safely inside, I could finally start my own dinner! I haven't looked after myself half as well as I have looked after the garden and my mippies! And then mippies feel entitled to a share of my food! Sigh - well, I think I've finally come up with a system that gives Ziva the treat at dinner which she deserves: I cut to tiny bits off my food and put that into the dish on the floor, then hold Ziva's treat in her old pink bowl - she then takes it out of her bowl and eats it. Mewthos did make one attempt to steal it off her, but I flicked his ears - he does NOT like that at all!

Now they're all cute and quietly napping ... with the occasional mip, meaning 'cuddle me?' which has me getting up and cuddling as needed.

Oh gosh, look at the time ... that's what happens when I sleep late! Nearly nine! I had better get to Zzzzz land!
