I snoozed the alarm by grabbing my phone and putting it under the duvet - which prompted Mewthos to not only investigate, but vigorously attack this strange object! Fun was had!
I got to work early, as usual, and ... well, worked. There was a delivery to Jo'burg today, so our driver was only available after three, which was a bit too late to collect & deliver my gardening goodies - we'll do it tomorrow morning.
I had an issue with an Excel spreadsheet - for some reason it was using enormous amounts of memory to perform a simple copy-and-paste of a very small range ... we investigated and found no possible cause. We tested it on a different PC and the same thing happened - so it's not the PC. Rather than waste any more time investigating, I re-created the spreadsheet - which took me two hours, as I needed the problematic one open as a guide! It's one of those Rocking Chair reports, so ... that was pretty much my whole morning gone ... poof!
Back at home, I'm glad Mewthos isn't a dog! I had barely started opening the passage door when he pushed it open and dashed past at top speed - closely followed by Ziva and Lady Jane! I'd have been flat on the floor with paw prints across my chest, if any of these had been large dogs!
I should maybe add that Mewthos was already waiting for me on the kitchen window sill, when I arrived - I think the time it takes me to get out, open the gate, park the car, close and lock the gate and then open the front gate, then the front door, and finally open the passage door must seem like hours to him!
I found my jersey twirlied all the way into the shower, joined by the purple fluffy toy and the fishies! So, I changed and joined my mippies outside!
No sooner had I sat down, than Janey and Mewthos went off to explore far, far away! Ziva stayed nearby. I inspected my pots and found, to my delight, that two more herbs are growing: Chives and the second Parsley variety! I think I saw the first green from Lettuce, but I'm not sure - that could just be one of the wag-n-bietjie leaves which blow into the pots. I'll know tomorrow!
Inside, the Oregano appears to have survived the attempted assassination, and even the Sage is coming up green! The Brussels Sprouts are sprouting in great numbers now, as well! Of all the seeds I've sown, as of today, it's only the Celery, Lettuce and Oregano I haven't seen coming up! Everything else is growing, growing, growing! The Zucchini, in particular, are already on their third leaf - I'm hoping they'll survive being left in the shallow pot until Saturday! I'll have my hands full, filling pots and re-potting all those which have grown too big for their first homes!
And then I started hearing what sounded like a cat in great distress - albeit from quite a distance! Ziva was still with me, roly-polying ahead of every step I took ... it went on and on until my mind started playing horror movies, and I called the mippies. Mewthos came running high-tailed right away, but Janey? Eventually I got the keys, opened the gate and went looking for her, calling all the time. Mewly and Ziva followed me, though they were somewhat wary the further I went from home - I stayed in the property, though. I went down to the driveway, turned left, then followed the road turning left again so that I walked back towards my place, just parallel - past it. That cat in distress sounded weaker and weaker the closer I got ... and when I was starting to seriously go doolally, Miss Mip came strolling along from the opposite direction! Tail in the air, mipping her happiness at seeing me!
Yeah, that's how my hair goes grey!
Eventually mippies came inside and I filled their tummies with yummies! Mewthos is a pig, as usual! His bowl isn't empty yet, when he starts bobbing his head into neighbouring bowls! I have to watch him like a hawk, or he'll gobble everyone's munchies!
Then it was time for my own dinner. It's the funniest thing, but every time I come with my full plate, to put it down in front of my chair - Ziva goes and jumps into our chair (yes, to her it's not mine, but ours!) and I end up putting the plate down in front of her! All that's missing is a bib around her neck and she'll be welcome in any restaurant! She no longer even attempts to 'steal' food - she just sits behind me, while I start cutting, then mips for her share. For some strange reason, she refuses to eat from the plate I've put down for them next to the table. Mewthos and Jane investigate and eat whatever is put on the plate, but for Ziva, I must put it on the floor in front of her nose, please! And then I must make sure Mewthos has a large piece to keep him busy, because he'll steal what Ziva is busy eating!
The two of them seem to have had a falling out, because Ziva now avoids Mewthos. Not with any trepidation, just with disgust at his greed! Whether it's hogging the food bowl or hogging my shoulder - he ALWAYS demands full attention. And often ends up pushing Ziva aside - not with any intention to push her aside, but just so intent of getting his share - without regard for either female!
Sjoe, half past eight again! Time for bed ...
