Laundry

The alarm woke me at five and Ziva insisted I get up right away. Ten minutes, love!

Coffee, outside enjoying the dawn followed by another beautiful sunrise. Mippies running around, having fun - only Mewthos stays near.

I started the laundry today, I was planning on finishing off by washing the bedding ... and then Ziva threw up on my pillow, so I'm DEFINITELY changing the bedding! Ha Ha Ha!

Ziva still surprises me, this morning I watched her play soccer with Lady Jane, they were tossing the fluffy ball, which once adorned their mini-scratcher, from one to the other, chasing each other down the passage into the lounge. 1:0 to Lady Jane! Then she started playing with one of my socks, which was on the pile 'to be washed'. And every time I have coffee, she wants her little drop of milk. I'm so glad she is happy with me, even though she has been taken from her home territory!

My word are kitties in cuddle mood today! I can't go five minutes without one of them mipping for roly polies! Ziva, Mewthos, Lady Jane, then Mewthos, then Ziva, then Mewthos, then Lady Jane - good thing I have no urgent business!

The washing machine was dark, so I assumed my third load was done - only, it's sopping wet, and the machine is still filled with water. Fortunately not so high that it ran out when I opened the door. I don't know why it didn't finish washing, or why it didn't spin, so I'm simply re-washing the load.

I fried myself two eggs ... well, that was the plan, but I ended up scrambling them ... with some fried tomato all topped with Parmesan shavings. Breakfast is served! Mippies were disappointed that I didn't share.

Since the sun is now where I'm working, I've started cleaning up among the red flowered succulents covering most of the ground. First I was surprised to find mushrooms growing! And I don't mean the little brown ones, which come up on lawns after a wet night, but fairly large white mushrooms! And then, I'm sorry to say, I found those horrid white lice had infected many of the red flowered succulents. Well, I've cleared myself a lovely curved path to walk, so I don't have to bend sideways to avoid the branches of the tree anymore.

And then ... I took a nap. Afterwards I hung up the third load of laundry ... and now I'm lazy. I don't feel like sifting through the ground, picking out roots now.

Sigh, as I got up to go outside, the power went down - just for a minute, but enough to shut down the PC. Well, I went outside and filled a pot, so there! Just one, and only just better than none, but so what?

As it was getting cold outside, I came inside, and - for a change - watched a movie! The Woman in White, based on the novel by Wilkie Collins. The movie is, naturally, very different from the book - there is just no way to convey a five hundred page book in a two hour movie. The story is drastically shortened, and, unavoidably also altered for the shortened version to convey at least some of the power of the book. I prefer the book version, it's less violent and much, much more intriguing.

Halfway through the movie, Ziva came and burrowed under the duvet and I scratched her ears through the second half of the movie. Near the end Lady Jane tried to join, but Ziva made it very clear that this is HER cuddle cave now! So, Janey went and kneaded the armchair. And now Ziva is mipping at me for attention! Sigh.

Gosh, it's half past eight - no wonder I'm struggling to keep my eyes open ...
