Would you believe I stayed in bed until seven? Ha Ha, mippies were not very impressed, but they patiently waited until I was ready to get up. Janey and Mewthos had joined me on the bed, cuddling and washing each other, while Ziva looked on from atop the shelf.
It's overcast and quite cool, almost cold today. Lovely weather for gardening - except, strangely enough, I don't feel like gardening much today. I've folded and packed away the laundry and played my online game.
Janey has been sticking to me like glue, she's mipping as much as Mewthos normally mewls! At one point she got onto the roof of the shed in an attempt to get onto the roof to catch a pigeon, then wasn't sure how to get down, so I bent over and she jumped onto my back and from there to the ground.
I decided to clean up a little around the spot where I had planted the Vieruurtjie and the white Geranium - I pulled a lot of grass with parts of its roots, but, of course, many roots are still in the ground and will grow again. I did clear a nice space around them, though. Added some compost to the soil and stood back to admire my handiwork.
Janey and Ziva were around me almost the entire time - Mewthos, however, seemed to be missing again. I called and called and walked around calling ... of course, when I turned around, there he was, stretched on the path and as soon as I spotted him, he started mewling to be cuddled! He is giving me grey hairs!
Sitting here at the PC today is not good for my health, though, since there's quite a draft coming through the now permanently open window. I considered closing it, but decided against it. I can deal with a blankie draped across one side for a day, rather than going back to the stuffy indoors.
I've just changed the bedding - yeah, I know, should have done that yesterday. I just turned the pillow over ... funny what you learn to live with, when you have cats, eh? I guess it's the same when you have a baby, although, of course, I wouldn't know.
Anyway, Mewthos and Janey helped lots! Playing hide and seek under the covers while I try to take old covers off and put new ones on! Now Mewthos has settled on the clean bed and Ziva has joined him - washing him thoroughly! It's wonderful to see them like that. That's the thing, the more attention I give each mippie, the more they tend to each other.
And then I started unpacking some more kitchen boxes. Fortunately I found some salt, as I had run out! I ALWAYS keep a pack of salt for refilling, but it must be stashed away in some box somewhere. I didn't find my packet, but I did find a full salt grinder. I also found many of the chocolate muffin mixes I had squirreled away, as well as more catnip! I'm glad for the catnip, though - the current price, or the price here at least is 50% more than I paid in PE!
Since it's a fairly cold day, I can actually bake comfortably, so I've got a tray of muffins in the oven. I've also boiled some eggs - found some interesting info online, at https://www.incredibleegg.org/cooking-school/egg-cookery/hard-boiled-eggs/ don't ask, I just always forget how long to leave them standing. With electricity getting beyond affordable, it does make a difference whether I boil for 5+ minutes or boil for 0 minutes.
Then I warmed the bean stew I had bought in a tin at the Continental Butchery in PE and added two Weisswurst. That's kind of what happens when I spend less time in the garden - I spend it in the kitchen. At least I'm set for good eating this week and not just slap something in the frying pan.
I saw some photos of the garden when I first arrived - boy, what a difference! I've really put a lot of work into that garden! One day, when I'm bored, I'll put together a photo collection 'Before vs After'. I took a lot of photos the first day the mippies spent outside, I'll take the same photos another time ...
Oh and in a weird fit of energy, I washed the dishes again, so my kitchen is sparkling clean for the week. Yet, as usual, although I took out a bread for the week, I forgot to take out something to put on it! That's why I've packed a Weisswurst and - separately - some muffins for tomorrow's lunch.
Sigh, mippies are loving the clean bed - that's not what I put the clean covers on for! Ziva and Mewthos are making themselves quite at home on the bed, cuddled together ... sigh, how can I now disturb them? Well, I'll have to, as it's near eight and I have got to sleep tonight or I won't get up tomorrow. Can't get up at seven, when I start work at seven, eh?
In closing: The garden looks great! The kitchen looks great! Even the bedroom looks good - just don't look at any of the floors! I really mean that! I didn't even sweep and the floors need a wash, not just a sweep. Well, there's another weekend coming up in four days ...
