Thursday

Mippies have a new morning game: attacking the buzzing, doodling cellphone when the alarm goes off! Last night I forgot to take it out, so it was in my pocket, which confused them a little.

Poor darlings take the alarm to mean it's time for outies for them ... it's not the most pleasant task to disappoint them every morning. But then, weekends are nothing but pleasure for all of us!

I just bought and dropped off 20 pots 35x35 cm as well as 20 bags of potting soil! Yeehaaa! It cost a bit more than I had calculated, because they actually had 20 35x35 pots on their shelf, not just 8. But the soil was cheaper than anticipated, so I'm happy! I also looked at what they had to build trellis' for the creepers to climb - but they are very secretive with their prices, so I didn't bother.

We also stopped to see if I could get cat litter - no luck! I had to take a bag of granulated, fragranced - and they charge a hefty price for the fragrancing! Pick 'n Pay doesn't believe in offering clients variety - they had only two options. Whatever - I took a bag, so for now I'll be okay. I'll keep a lookout every chance I get!

On the way home, we stopped at that Pet Feed Warehouse along the road - Alzu. Yeah, they also don't have much variety. I'm glad I stopped and got to see - now I know.

Poor mippies! They couldn't understand why, if I'm home, they can't go out! Ziva stood at the closed front door with such a look of longing ... I had to pick her up and carry her back to the bedroom. I filled their Whiskas bowl for them - poor compensation, I know.

One thing which worries me is that I haven't seen them cleaning each other, like they used to. They also no longer cuddle together, not on the chair, nor on the sleeper couch - the closest is when Ziva and Mewthos share the top of the bookshelf! I suppose it's just normal - after all, they have always changed their behaviour from time to time - but I miss watching the nightly lick-fest!

Of course, now, my biggest problem is, that I don't much feel like work! My heart and my head are at home ...

I just saw that a call was made from my phone to **1 at five this morning - MIPPIES! Ai, ai, ai!

I found my jersey twirlied all the way into the kitchen, nearly to the window! Huggy bear Mewthos has been busy!

Today the outside Oregano has finally made its first appearance! Okay, so you have to look real close to see the teeny tiny specks of green, but they are definitely there! I'm still not certain about the lettuce - but I am finding mini mushrooms growing in the pots! Sigh.

Seeing how tall the Zucchini have grown and how badly they want a deeper pot, I'm sorely tempted to call in sick tomorrow to get busy! I won't - but it's very tempting! I'm already deciding which to re-pot first - the Zucchini and Bush Beans are at the top of the list!

I'm not in the mood to cook anything for dinner tonight, not even simply frying the lamb chop I had planned for tonight. It's this sitting outside so late - as much as I love it, it does take time out of my evening; which is short enough as it is. I just cut myself a chunk of cheese and had that, and I'm drinking milk now. For tomorrow - since I'm also not in the mood to make lunch - I've taken out two Käsegriller sausages, and for dinner a Kassler. But with me coming home nice and early, I'll probably feel up to frying my lamb chop.

I had planned on going shopping in Pretoria East next Friday, not this coming week, but the one after - only, that's Easter, so I guess I had better go next Friday. I'll get some bread and some meat and then I'll make the effort of going to Pick 'n Pay in The Willows, down the road from the German Butchery. I know I've seen the Ultra Fine Cat Litter somewhere, when I was checking out places - but evidently it wasn't near work. I'm hoping it was out east, because I just don't want to go searching any further!

Ziva has had scabs around her neck for as long as she's been with me - from scratching fleas. That's why I tried the Seresto collar. Now, however, since I've dosed her with Frontline, her neck is finally clearing completely - and I haven't seen her scratch frantically, as she's always done. Finally! Something that works on Ziva! Oh, I had tried them on her before, but I guess the combination of dry climate is finally doing the trick for her!

It's going on half past eight again ... Good Night!
