Tuesday

I had a better night, though I did wake up around three courtesy of my stomach. It's not happy with me, yet I don't know why. Ah well, we'll come to terms in time.

I had another strange dream, where Rose and I were in hospital - yet we were wandering around the corridors looking for a pink cat? Where does my mind come up with these things?

Sigh, I miss Rose! I miss our daily chats and I keep wondering what she's knitting or crocheting at the moment? How are Frankie and Shadow? What's Quizzy Lizzy been up to? Is she giving her mommy grey hairs?

I'm hoping that by the end of March my credit card is out of the red, which will mean I can look at getting a tablet. My cellphone service provider has a really bad signal out where I live, so phone calls are quite a strain trying to hear and make sense of the interrupted conversation - I am so looking forward to being able to show Rose some photos of my home and hear how things are going with her! I'll upload some photos here, but who wants to upload photos of a messy home - yet sharing those with friends is a different matter!

This morning I remembered to carry out the trash bags, at least! No mippie sat sad-faced in the kitchen window this morning. I've had to pick up and cuddle Mewthos a few times, though. He is such a lover bug! Ziva also told me that she doesn't like it when I leave in the mornings - well, that's how I interpret her lengthy conversation while I was trying to brush my teeth, anyway. Mewthos had to stick his nose quite close to my mouth wanting to know what I'm doing! Lady Jane sat by the other sink and just watched. Like they do almost every morning.

Yesterday afternoon, I've had the store re-arranged again. I'm so itching to be able to get rid of obsolete stock so that I can really get stuck into designing a proper store. At least the storage shelving and binning to be used since this location is temporary. Building is going on outside, so change is in progress.

Sigh. Just had another ad-hoc management meeting - apparently we'd like to close on Friday. Nice for me - four days at home with my mippies! And a good thing I didn't shop yesterday, because if I'm home for four days, I'd like to get some potting soil, compost etc. to work in the garden. I think I'll even get some seeds, he he he. I do want to start growing some vegetables.

For some of my staff, however, this is not good news, since they are paid per hour, and February was already a short month ...

Mission accomplished! I went to Builders and then to Pick n Pay during lunch - I came back an hour late, though! I don't like doing that, it's not fair to my staff. However, I went seed-nuts! Ha Ha Ha! I can just hear Rose bursting out laughing as she reads this! And I can hear her announce "I knew it!" Ha Ha Ha!

The thing is, I found non GMO seeds (as in not genetically modified), Heirloom seeds, in fact - don't ask, I did read up on it extensively and the only information that stuck is "Sounds just like what I've been looking for!" I'm not a botanist, not even an aspiring one - just someone who likes to dig in soil and see things grow.

And I won't be throwing seeds into beds helter skelter again - since I don't have beds. What I've decided that, what I want to do, is just plant one week's vegetable's worth of seeds, like one or two tomato seeds, one or two cucumber seeds, maybe two lettuce seeds, etc. Start that on Thursday, then plant one or two more seeds on Sunday, and then again next weekend. I'll have the time to plan what to plant when since they also don't all have the same germination time or time-to-harvest. I also only got seeds for plants I actually do eat - not radishes nor rhubarb again, ha ha!

I also got herbs - including catnip! Those I can plant in pots and grow - hopefully this time they'll survive! Mippies will love having me not only at home, but outside, in the garden! They come inside when I go inside, mipping in hopes of drawing me outside. It's not so much fun outside without me there for spontaneous cuddles!

Then I went to Pick 'n Pay, the key item I needed was cat litter ... which they had when I went to check, but now? Nothing! Sigh.

I think I'll try to see if the ePetstore can maybe supply the litter I want, they do supply that brand just not that specific type. Most cats seem to be okay with grain rather than sand - mine are spoiled! For now, I got a bag of crystals at Pick 'n Pay which I'll put into the pee-box and see how that goes. I'll keep the sand for the solids. Yes, they like to keep these two separated, although sometimes I see a mix in the large box.

In case you're wondering why I haven't moaned and groaned about load shedding ... yeah, I've not been affected ... yet! At work, Rosslyn is an industrial area, Nissan, BMW and SA Breweries are the biggest, I think, and I think combined they actually have the power to tell Eishkom: No way! At home, I'm not quite sure why we've been lucky - I think it may be that they actually have to drive out to switch us off here, and drive out to switch us back on afterwards, so I'm guessing that - since this area is sparsely populated - it's not worth the petrol? I hope I haven't jinxed myself by writing it here! Well, I've put my Magneto on charge - that's that strong LED lantern. It has four settings: Off, half, on and on when power cuts; as in, while it's connected to the power grid, when that connection is interrupted, the light goes on. That's extremely useful when you suddenly find yourself in the dark, like when the power is cut at eight in the evening. It's less pleasant when the power goes off in the middle of the night, though, and the lamp is in your bedroom! I've just put connected it to charge and set it to 'off'; if I'm suddenly in the dark, I can use my cellphone's torch to find my way to the lantern.

Back at home, I let my mippies out again when I arrived - Mewthos and Ziva dashed past me so fast, I just saw to streaks of grey! Again, I showered first - and then I sat outside and arranged my new seeds by 'days to harvest'! I also added the seeds I still have - you'll laugh: quickest to harvest? Radishes! Ha Ha, I didn't know I still had seeds! Ah well. The rest all take at least two months from seed to harvest. I think I'll survive.

Again, I had no trouble getting my mippies inside - they had each taken an extended explore at their leisure, last to return was Ziva, yet I didn't even have to call her! They all came to the door and when I packed my things and put them inside they all went inside - I didn't even have to use the 'm' word! When I gave them their treat I realised that I'm low on sachets - not really a surprise. I meant to place an order this week - but I had forgotten about the public holiday, so it will have to wait until next week. No problem, though, I'll just give them fewer sachets - it's not like they'll starve! I just love to spoil my mippies, that's all!

Mewthos had a major twirl again today, I found both my jersey and another long-sleeve top twirled all the way into the bathroom! Ai, ai. He's a rare kind of weirdo! Good thing he is so adorable! One can't help but love him, even when he's sirening!

Well, I had better get another early night.
