Late start

I did not sleep well at all. Mippies kept jumping around like jellybeans for the longest time and I had some strange dreams revolving around work. I was busy with a fiddly job yesterday, and that kept intruding on my dreams. I woke up around two in the morning - no clue why. Turned over, went back to sleep.

I woke up to the alarm, switched it off and went to sleep ... and woke up again at ten past six! As a result I was late for work - only a few minutes, though.

At work I'm busy on the rocking chair. Sigh. We've received another order and it takes hours of running up and down for information here and there to check on material in stock, material required, etc. etc. Why is it so complicated? Well, because we call so many materials by the same name, with no distinction between different work-in-progress stages; and, of course, the information is scattered throughout in multiple formats - none talking to each other. For example, the process information is in a pdf format. We don't have a Bill of Materials, so I have to find what info I can wherever it's hidden, and then double-check it with the planner. And then I have to create job cards for each process - even though I now type them, rather than write them out by hand, that doesn't speed things up by much, yet. The job cards have to be signed and counter-signed. Only then can the store start to issue materials ... for set-up! Which takes hours, as well ... and only when that's complete, can production actually start!

Of course, when I'm this busy, that's when my printer decides to pack up! So now I'm printing in the main office - and have to go walk there to collect my Job Cards. Only, that printer had an issue as well ... which I only knew once I had toddled off to collect ... don't ask!

Of course, the work I'm doing to reduce the rocking chair activities is on hold while I'm busily rocking away!

It's not a good day, so far! The only positive side to this day has been the weather: It's overcast and cool! No rain, as yet, but at least it's not 35 degrees today! Whenever they forecast 32 degrees for Pretoria - you can add another 3 degrees for the north!

A colleague asked if I had any boxes, his sister is moving this weekend - I was a bit ambivalent about giving away my boxes ... at first. Some of those boxes have moved with me for a long time already, and it's always a hassle getting boxes when you move, because some stores are just plain nasty about it while others are very helpful. I thought about how much space it would free for me to get rid of the boxes - since I don't have an actual store for them, like the garage in PE. So, when I got home, I loaded the car! I kept only two, which are especially sturdy - and which I need for the mixer / blender. But other than that, I loaded everything I could reach!

Now I can unpack more! Ha Ha Ha!

When that was done, I started watering my seed pots! Oh, how exciting! More sprouts! There's Basil poking through, and either a cucumber or a broad bean - but I think it's a cucumber! The Mustard is massing up and the first Sage is also poking through! Funny thing though: outside, it's the Sage that's showing the first green - inside it's the Oregano! The Radish are getting big - I'm thinking of transplanting them this weekend. It hasn't been a week, yet, and such a lot is already coming up! I'm loving it!

Mippies enjoyed their time outside again and didn't go far. I stayed outside as long as I could, foregoing dinner to avoid them coming in early again, as they did last night. Lady Jane wasn't really keen on coming in, yet - there's a pair of bats which are driving her batty! They zoom past her head going round and round, she's having a tough time following them with her eyes, let along trying to catch either!

Ziva is sulking at the moment, because I just dabbed her with Frontline. Since she can't take the Seresto collar, I must do something to try and keep the ticks off her - I really don't want to risk my mippies getting tick bite fever!

Since I slept late this morning, I'm not tired yet, even though it's nearly eight now.

As I was sitting outside, wondering whether I should make another turn at Builders this Friday during lunch, to get some pots - I thought that maybe I can make my own pots? After all, I would like some bottomless ones. But I don't think I"m ready for that, yet.

I'm still not feeling sleepy, but I think if I don't go to bed now, I'll be late again tomorrow! I shouldn't make it a habit!
