Boxed in, boxed out

I'm feeling much, much better today! I woke up at five feeling relaxed and happy, so I got up made myself coffee and when the sun began to rise I went outside to enjoy with my mippies!

I had a laugh at Mewthos last night though, Lady Jane had settled under the basins and somehow the cupboard doors got shut - all I heard was the door shutting and saw Mewthos standing in front of it looking at me all innocent! I had wedged the towels to hang over the shelf, keeping the door from closing ... somehow that wedge was cleared.

Ziva had rather a rough time when I went to bed, her stomach seems to have been upset by something she gobbled and she threw up quite extensively! It's spread around somewhat, some even got on the bed, but I cleaned that easily and since it was at the foot end, it didn't bother me.

This morning I'm looking around the flat and I think I'd like to do some cleaning inside today, rather than beautify the garden. The biggest problem is, of course, the shocking plumbing! Fortunately the bathroom sinks have plastic knobs to open the taps - but everything else is conductive and I have to wear gloves. Sigh.

You'd think with the door open the mippies would go exploring and playing - like they used to in PE! Well, there they were also used to getting cuddles anytime of the day or night when they felt like cuddles ... so, instead of running off, they stay nearby and demand cuddles almost continuously! And when I go inside, I'm never alone here. Right now, Ziva is sitting on the Ottoman behind me.

I've started in the kitchen. I'm trying a different method, since I've found the FloorWhizz is not really effective in corners nor under appliances. I've tried the green sweeper, but the velcro is stuck to the sweeper with glue, and soaking that dissolves the glue. So I'll try the blue spaghetti-type sweeper in the next room.

The mippies play-room - aka my bathroom - is a crap load of work to clean, though! First I have to pick up all their toys, then their sand boxes and finally the grass carpet - which is always covered in sand. Of course there are also my bathroom mats and various other bathroom things to pick up before I can even sweep the floor! There's the scratcher, too. When I was doing the second round of sweeping with the blue sweeper, it doesn't get under the cupboard there and corners are also tricky, so I continued to wash the floor with the green flatter sweeper.

The floor looked lovely and clean ... for about two seconds! That's when Ziva came in to inspect! Or rather, she came to look for the litter box ... and left a trail of mippie prints!

Bedroom floor is clean, passage and lounge are ... cleaner than they were. It's one in the afternoon and all three mippies are on their Siesta! It IS hot, so I think I'll call it a day on the cleaning side.

Yeah ... no. I've got a bit of a headache building up, but I tried to lie down ... but gave up fairly quickly, I was just getting bored! So now I'm moving boxes around to get to the bookshelves into which I can hopefully unpack some boxes! I'm taking it nice and easy though, I don't have a deadline, no need to overexert myself.

Note to self: When re-arranging boxes in a small space - make sure you don't box yourself into a corner ... again!

Right! I'm done for the day. Well, it's twenty past five, so I should think so! I've worked a longer day at home than I do at work! But I did get quite a bit done. I've re-arranged the furniture and now it all lines against the wall - before, the desk was standing in the middle of the room, or rather lined against the bookshelves, now it's in the corner and against the wall. I've also unpacked quite a few books, but haven't arranged them, yet. Just unpacked them into the bookshelf any old how. I did clean the bookshelves, though.

I've also got a couple of kitchen boxes to unpack sometime as well as some bedroom / bathroom ones. I can do that in my own time, when I feel like it. At least I can now actually use my desk, although I'm not moving the PC into the lounge. But I can do some paper-stick weaving or any other hobby I feel like.

After I had showered, I found myself totally mipless! Not a whisker in sight, not a mip or a mewl to be heard! I sat outside - nothing. I cooked myself dinner - nothing. I sat outside waiting for my dinner to cool down - nothing. I called - nothing. I sat down to eat ... Hello Ziva! Lady Jane followed a few minutes later and then mew-mew-mew sirening down the passage came Mewthos!

Mewthos, as usual, wanted munchies - but Janey and Ziva were still enjoying themselves outside. I gave them until just before seven, then called them in. They enjoyed two sachets - they are still licking their chops! Ha Ha, they are such darlings!

I nearly messed up, though: I forgot to close the kitchen windows! Fortunately I saw that while they were busy with their second sachet and could close them in time.

Sigh, as I look on the tiles I already see a multiple trails of mippie prints everywhere again! Ai, ai, ai. And there's the sound of mippies toppling boxes! Ai, ai, ai! And this time, I think it was Ziva, not Mewthos.

I feel quite happy again, back to my positive self. And I have some ideas how to cope with the rocking chair effect at work and enjoy it again. The past week was somewhat depressing, because I let myself get sucked into the mindless whirlpool and lost my way for a bit. I'll be better prepared in future, I hope. I need to learn to set some boundaries as well, something I'm not particularly good at.

For today, though, I'll go cuddle my lovebugs now - they are very demanding, when it comes to cuddles! They are used to getting my and Rose's undivided attention on demand - now, I have to provide both doses in the little time I'm at home! I don't mind, though.
