Another half day!

I had set my alarm to five, rather than quarter past, and I had no trouble waking or getting up! Lovely! I left earlier than usual and found that just before six getting onto the R101 is as bad as at quarter past! Plus, there seems to be a mad rush at that time and people were driving quite suicidally! Overtaking several cars on a solid white line? Seriously? You are THAT keen on your work? I doubt that!

So, lesson learned: leaving early doesn't help. I'll keep leaving at ten to six. It still gets me to work way too early - but better than late!

I got to work and found the place quite dark ... no electricity! Apparently the power went out at four in the morning, and the security company told our guard that it was load shedding. Another colleague confirmed that there was load shedding at his place ... however, once the management staff arrived, they 'checked the app' - sigh! - and found that no load shedding was scheduled. That means that it's a case of cable theft!

By half past eleven we were told to go home - gladly! I decided to take this opportunity to stop at the local Makro. I took a leisurely stroll through the place and found some bowls I'll try on my mippies! Other than that, I just got a few odd things and cigarettes - only to find out that they cost more now at Makro than they do at Spar! Good to know, though - it means I can cross Makro completely off my list.

Back at home, mippies were clearly not expecting me - not a single nose pressed to the window! But all three were behind the passage door when I opened it! Ziva and Mewthos immediately dashed past to the front door and were pleasantly surprised to see it open! I carried my shopping inside, then sat outside for a smoke - mippies by my feet.

Food is somewhat of an issue - I'm just not hungry in this heat, and even when I feel somewhat peckish, it's too hot to cook. I have to force myself to cook and even struggle to get the food down, no matter how nice I made it. I wish I could get Sushi every day! Well, I've had some salad and some of the broccoli and potatoes I made yesterday, I also packed some for tomorrow.

Since I was home so early, I took the time to wash the dishes only to be ... yes, you guessed it: zapped! Blerry tap gave me a mild shock! I am seriously getting quite miffed with this situation! It's not funny and it's been over a week! The problem isn't my landlord, though, and when I do mention it, he gets quite upset since he agrees it's not tolerable, yet there's nothing more he can do. At least, I gather, it's a rare occurrence, so once it's resolved, I shouldn't have to endure it again. It really is very unpleasant, and I worry about my mippies! What if they touch a pipe of running water? What is just a zap to me is quite a shock to them!

I've called them in and given them their evening treat in their new bowls - they seem to love them! Or maybe it's just the treat? But they took to the new bowls without missing a beat - and they've just mipped for a fourth treat! But - as always with the Whiskas - there's still the meat left, so: No! Eat first, then get more. But hey, we're talking about a fourth sachet here - they've polished three!

Lady Jane was not happy to find the front door closed after the first treat! She shot into the lounge ... then shot back, right into my foot! Fortunately it was covered in slipper, so nobody got hurt. She didn't mind a second nor a third treat, though! They are such a bunch of greedy chops, my little mippies! They love to eat!

Mewthos had been mewling for munchie for over an hour already - but Ziva and Lady were having such fun outside, I didn't want to call them in quite yet. So I picked up Mewly and covered his big face in kisses. He quietened down - for a while, then wriggled free. Mewled again and I picked him up again and kissed his nose until he wriggled free again! Sjoe, but he is no light weight!

I'm just so tired so much of the time at home, it's so frustrating in a way. There's such a lot I could be doing, if only I had the energy. I watch my mippies chase a roll of toilet paper through two rooms and wish I had just half that energy. Well, it'll come back, I'm sure. It's probably the heat as much as anything. I tried taking a nap this afternoon, but didn't go to sleep. And not long after I lay down, mippies came for cuddles ...

I found the purple rat-tail in the shower again! Unfortunately it showered with me ... I should keep the shower doors closed while the zapping is going on.

Ah well, let's see what tomorrow brings!
