Another late start!

I woke at five and snoozed until ten to six - but left at ten past six, which should have been plenty of time to get to work early ...

When I got to the road, there was a lot of traffic heading towards the old road, so I decided to take the Highway ... only ... they blocked off the on ramp! Plus, ALL traffic was diverted OFF the N1 onto our road! Not by police, but by the toll department, so I don't know why. I had to turn around and get into the queue of traffic heading for the old road ... those 2km from where I'd normally get on until the old road took me 20 minutes! Normally, it takes me 20 minutes to get all the way to work!

So I sms'd work to let them know I'd probably be late ... again.

The car in front of me seemed to have a slow puncture, its left rear tire was definitely low on air. I was actually able to get out and walk up to the driver to let him know, and get back - without adding to the delays!

When we finally reached the old road, at first traffic was moving, albeit slowly - but soon it was going bumper to bumper again! Those 7km on the old road took me another 30 minutes! There was also an accident right in front of me - well, two cars in front of me - due to someone racing across an intersection in the yellow lane. Nobody got hurt, but the car that was hit broke the front axle.

When I finally got off the old road, I feared traffic would continue - I sms'd my landlady, in case they need to hit the road. Traffic cleared once I got onto the Highway, though and I got to work about ten past.

My landlady sms'd me later, to say that on the radio they announced that there had been a fatal accident - which caused this traffic.

The boxes were welcomed with open arms, I'm told they are 'more than enough'! Ha Ha! And that's not even half my boxes! Sigh.

Back at home I found my gate opened by my landlord, he even closed it for me after I had parked! Now that's what I call service!

Mippies were very happy to get out, as always. And I enjoyed my first shock-free shower! Bliss! Mewly, of course, mewled in and out throughout the shower. Afterwards, I put the chicken on the steamer with some veg - with mew, mew, Mewly in loud attendance. He wasn't happy until I went to sit outside!

More greens poking through! Firstly, what I saw yesterday, is definitely Cucumber! There's a whole forest of them popping up, now! And then, the first Zucchini is raising it's head as well! Plus the Bush Beans are also coming up! Yum, yum, yum!

On the bad news side: the Oregano, which was sprouting indoors yesterday has been murdered ... by mippies. They toppled the three pots off the window sill. Sigh. I took a photo of the crime scene ... when I tried to take a second photo, Ziva photo-bombed it!

We've had a bit of rain this afternoon, so there was no need to water anything. I left mippies to play quite late ... only when the first drops of rain fell did I call them in. As usual, Lady wasn't keen on coming in quite yet ... but she showed up while Mewthos and Ziva were attacking their munchie bowls! She missed out on the first Sachet - the yummiest one.

After her dinner, we played the usual litter box game: I scoop with Lady by my side waiting, when I'm done she gets in, with me by her side waiting and finally I scoop again. After I had put the full bag away, Ziva joined the game as well! Sorry, my girl ... I'll wait for you next time.

And then, finally, I could start eating my dinner ... not without mippies mipping for their share. I was quite generous.

I'm glad tomorrow is Friday. I'll be happy to take more snappies of my sprouting seedlings with all my mippies in happy attendance!
