I went to bed around half past eight - late, by my current standards! However, I wasn't quite tired, yet and thought I could have stayed up another half hour! I didn't want to risk oversleeping, though, so I put the fan on and tried to go to sleep - with moderate success.
Mewthos came and curled up under the duvet - and kept changing sides! A 7kg cat flopping from his left to his right every few minutes turns even an ordinary bed into a rocking bed! He eventually had all the lovies he wanted and went to sleep next to me.
I was right, I woke up at half past four this morning! Plenty of time to play with mippies, have a leisurely cup of coffee, play online, before getting ready for work.
Mewthos seems to have settled down now - it's difficult for them to understand why I keep going away. They each have their issues with that and show it in different ways; Mewthos by being a nuisance, Lady Jane by withdrawing and Ziva by asking for attention when I'm home - albeit quietly, unlike Mewthos.
Ziva has taken to the kitchen chair as her favourite place! She loves to be behind me, when I'm sitting on that chair and she has also worked out that it's easier for me to scratch her ears and tickle her tummy on the chair, rather than on the floor. So whenever she wants attention, she mips and runs to the chair!
Ziva and Mewthos watched me leave from the kitchen window this morning ...
At work, I can't do much right now, since our network is down. The internet has been down for about two hours this morning, now it's just the network I'm waiting to come back up - since I've stored my work on the server for everyone to access.
I'm starting to get bored at work, the internet works now and then, ditto the server ...
Sometime after three, everything went back to normal - but by now, I'd lost the drive to do any serious work.
About quarter past four the rain started to come down by the bucket load! Sigh, I guess I had better take the toll road home. Yesterday was bad enough, for some reason traffic had slowed on the old road to no more than 20 km/h for about 5km! I began to wonder whether I'd need a calendar to measure my trip home.
Today, however, the closer I got to home, the lighter the weather - it had rained at home, but nowhere near as much as at work! However ...
When I got into the shower, having turned on the hot water ... when I then tried to add cold water ... I got a shock! Literally! I couldn't touch a tap without getting shocked! So, I got back out, got a cloth and turned off the water with that. I knocked on my landlords door for help and they told me it has happened before, the problem is caused by the municipality. They'll call tomorrow to have it fixed. They explained how - I'm afraid I didn't understand any of it.
Anyway, she lent me a pair of rubber flip-flops so I could shower, plus I used one of the rubber gloves I use for washing dishes to turn the taps on and off! Strange way to shower - but at least it got the day's sweat and heat rinsed off!
I had first spent some time playing with my mippies, though - we played the stick-under-the-mat game, which Lady Jane particularly loves! I saw that Ziva's neck was looking worse again - I think she scratches it - so I cleaned it again and put on ointment again as well. It's not as bad as it was, though.
I had Kassler for dinner, and I can't decide what I should take out for tomorrow night's dinner ... I eventually took out some sausages.
In the meantime, I squared my account with my boss - I did the calcs of deposit refund vs petrol & tolls paid, he gave me the banking details and I made the transfer. So now, all the money in my account is once again mine. No monies owed - except to my credit card. And I think I can reduce that substantially this month as well - if I'm lucky, I can actually clear it!
Mew-Mew is mewling again like nobody's business! Sigh, I wish I knew why. I play with him, I cuddle him, I shout at him, I give him nippies, I gave them three treats tonight - yet still he cries. At least only sporadically now - as if he's got to remember to kill my nerves, rather than from any serious misery.
He made me laugh just now! I turned on the tap and Lady Jane came to drink, followed by Mewthos, who - in an effort to get to the running water - put his paw on Lady Jane's head and pushed her down! He didn't actually push her head into the water, but it looked as if he was thinking of it! I picked her up and placed her on the opposite side, before anything happened.
Ai, ai, ai, I've just spent the past hour cuddling mippies! First Mewthos, whom I simply grabbed and held on my lap and wouldn't let him go, no matter how much he wriggled, until I was sure he wouldn't carry on mewling any more. It worked!
Next, Lady Jane mipped for attention and she curled up in my arms, then climbed onto my shoulders, then curled up in my arms again, then took another stroll onto my shoulder, etc. etc. Then she went and curled up on the sleeper couch looking at me - I didn't disappoint her, I went and sat with her and tickled her tummy and she rolled over and over happily!
And then Ziva needed her share of lovies. We settled on the bed and I scratched her ears, her head, her chin, her cheeks, tickled her tummy then scratched her ears and head and chin and cheeks again, we repeated the cycle several times until she, too, felt quite happy.
Mewthos is taking the food bowls walkies now - he wants more munchies ... sigh. Sorry, you've had three tonight, that's quite enough!
And now I'm all cuddled out and ready for bed ...
