Day 65 of 100, Thursday 27th December

After eight the headache started dissolving – it just melted away; I guess the migraine cocktail finally took effect? I went to bed soon afterwards and slept very well – considering the oppressive heat! I had switched on the fan in the bedroom and kept that going throughout the night.

At one point I woke up to both mini’s lying right by my side, both on their backs, tummy in the air – I couldn’t resist and tickled both tummies! Not surprisingly, I woke up before five and gladly got out of bed. It was already light so I just opened the curtains.

I’m not sure what to do today, it feels like another hot day, although I do hope I’m wrong! Tomorrow, of course, the first thing I’ll be doing is catching mippies to carry to the vet for their booster shots & micro chipping.

Sigh, and now Mewthos has a fat lip! Just like Lady Jane had a while back – just the centre bit of the lower lip is swollen. Maybe if it’s still fat tomorrow, the vet can tell me wht that’s all about. It’s half eight and my lot are sitting by the door to go out, and I can see a shadow under the door, so Romeo is waiting to come in for breakfast. I give in and let them out/in.

It’s already 30°C just after eight in the morning! At least it’s overcast so the sun isn’t blazing down on everything!

I spoke too soon! Ten minutes later the clouds are breaking and the sun comes blazing through … urgh! Lady Jane is stretched out in her favourite spot on the window sill by the open window, Ziva is somewhere outside and Mewthos just came inside.

Since I’m feeling much better than I did yesterday, I get busy in the kitchen. I’ve taken the rubbish out, since they’re coming to collect tomorrow – on a Friday, instead of Tuesday, due to the Christmas holidays. I saw a few, tiny maggots again, so I thoroughly cleaned the bin again.

Mewthos is shedding so much now, in this humidity, when I pick him up he transfers a full coat onto me! When I let him go, I had a chest like a grizzly bear - okay, a grey one, but still! The look doesn’t suit me, though, Ha Ha Ha!

Oooh, lovely! The clouds are back, the wind has picked up a bit, temperatures are dropping and there’s even the odd drop of water in the air! It smells like rain, and the way Mewthos is holding his damaged paw tells me there’s definitely rain in the air! Rose confirmed it – her knees are just as reliable.

The kitchen is clean and my food is cooking – I’ve put the half broccoli and half cauliflower; the spinach with nectarines and the rice in the steamer. When it’s done, I’ll fry the mushrooms and will add the steamed veggies and rice stir-fry style.

Rose told me she was going to Spar this afternoon and asked if I need anything – she’s kind enough to bring me milk and ice cream; veggies are cooking and I still have a cucumber, tomatoes, and fruit in the fridge. I’ve also still got bread and meat in the freezer, so I should be fine till next week.

I considered finishing the vacuuming, but all my mippies are lounging around the lounge and I don’t like chasing them out! Lady Jane in particular is being very cuddly today – giving me another furry chest and arms!

My stir-fry concoction turned out delicious – and just to avoid being accused of healthy eating, I added sour cream! Yum yum!

I played a mean trick on Lady Jane: I called her from the upstairs window! Just like Mewthos she followed my voice and ran up Rose’s stairs … then started mipping in confusion! I didn’t leave her in suspense for long – I went straight down the stairs and called her again; when I looked around the corner she was on Rose’s window sill trying to find a way into the open window – she was having some trouble because the window opened away from her, so she first had to get past without falling off! Just as I went downstairs, Rose arrived back from shopping – she said it was a pleasure! Open parking, no queues – lovely!

Oh, and Rose had a look at my hair ‘cut’ and says it looks fine – I can wear it open anytime, no zig-zags or anything like that.

And now my headache is returning. It feels like a pressure inside my skull trying to press down my brain. It’s gone pretty dark outside, so I don’t think I’m being fanciful when I think the two are linked. It’s raining now, just thin streaks of drizzle – I love the smell of rain! Now if someone could just explain to me why I have to call Mewthos to come inside when it starts raining? Both Lady Jane and Ziva are inside, even Romeo has come limping up the stairs (never saw him limp before?) but Mewly? He is fascinated by water drops!

As busy as I’ve been today, I’ve made no actual progress. And in this weather, I’m certainly not going to carry the trash into the road for collection! It can stay in the bin downstairs until the next collection. I just hope it doesn’t rain tomorrow morning, when I have to carry the mippies out to take them to the vet!

Right now I have four cats in my bedroom! Romeo seems to like the acoustics in there – he’s caterwauling his heart out! He’s also developing some strange eating habits: he comes rushing in and starts eating from the first dispenser … until the bottom is visible! At that point he moves on to the other dispenser! If I come by and shake the first one, covering the ‘hole’ he goes right back to it and eats from that. Repeat until he’s had enough!

Argh! Mewly! He’s been playing outside in the rain, in the mud, then he comes in and wants a cuddle – silly me, I pick him up! Now I need a bath! Ha Ha Ha!

During a break in the weather, I carried the rubbish out – job done! That’s all the maggoty rubbish to be collected tomorrow!

It’s not even seven yet, but the mippies are mewling under my feet! So, before they bring in more mud, I treat them with their favourite munchie … and shut the door while they’re distracted! I’ve shut the windows as well, but there’s been plenty of breeze coming through all day so the room is bearable. For me, this means I can take an early shower!

The headache hasn’t change – it’s still there, but not getting any worse. If anything, it’s somewhat lighter than it was at first.
