Having stayed up so late, I woke up
late as well, near nine! At least the weather is more tolerable today, not cool
exactly but at least there’s a breath of air today. So I’m catching up with the
housework today. I did the laundry yesterday, so today it’s just folding and
packing it away. Oh, and I’ve put the bed sheets in the machine – wash and dry,
so it’ll take half a day. Now I’m finally washing the dishes.
I discovered last night exactly why
Ziva turns her nose up at treats occasionally – she doesn’t like her bowl! She’s
very particular that way and when I put her food on a plate, she ate quite
happily! I’m not very keen on the plastic bowls anyway, so I’ve been looking
around for something nicer for my mippies – just haven’t found anything I
really like, so far.
Mewthos also struggles to get his
fat head around the water dispenser and keeps taking it walkies whenever he
wants to drink. I also have to keep turning his food bowl for him, since he
doesn’t seem to grasp where it goes when he’s pushed it to the far end. The
food dispenser gives him trouble at times as well, when he tries to stick his
head in the bowls but bumps it against the dispenser, effectively taking it
walkies as well.
I like Rose’s set up, she’s got
porcelain bowls for each cat and for their water. The only thing I disagree
with is that the cats eat on the kitchen counter – but that’s just personal
preference. It could be a left-over from my own mother, who disliked pets so much
she disliked having them indoors. Her partner also kept his dogs strictly
outside – they were only allowed indoors on firework nights. Sadly, his dogs
also never lived very long – in Mynx’ lifetime he went through so many dogs, I
quite lost track! Okay, so they were large dogs, Ridgebacks mostly, but still.
Mynx lived to be 15 and in that time he went through some 6 or 10 dogs! Okay,
so he always kept two – one older one younger, so when one was put down another
took his place; but that still gives Mynx the lifetime of three or five dogs!
Ha Ha! As soon as I picked up the
mippies food bowls to wash them, Mewthos was mewling and pawing me! They love
to stand up and reach as high as they can so I don’t even have to bend to
scratch their heads! Only Ziva doesn’t do that.
Shame, Felix just came for a munch
and he’s got quite a bad cut over his eye! It took some time to get a chance to
clean that for him since he’s not yet sure of me; I have stroked him and
brushed him a little, but he’s still awfully wary – even of me.
Rose and I had quite a good laugh at
Mewthos yesterday: I was upstairs looking out the window and Rose was on her
porch, below me; Mewthos saw and heard me and came running – but he was a bit
confused about how to reach me! He ran up Rose’s stairs then tried to jump up
the wall, slipped and fell back onto the stairs – then sat there looking
totally bewildered! He had run towards my voice … and he could clearly hear me,
but where am I? Ha Ha Ha! I had to go to the door and call him for him to work
it out!
