Day 40 of 100, Sunday 2nd December

Weird dreams again, this time I dreamed that Mewthos would jump on the window of cars to get a ride somewhere! Then he’d jump of and come bounding at me at top speed running into my arms!

I woke up earlier than yesterday, slowly getting back to normal. I’m out of biscuits and I haven’t defrosted a fresh loaf of bread, yet, so I don’t actually have anything for breakfast.

Today the weather is fine, hot, sunny and no wind, so my mippies are playing outside. I heard a screeching, cats fighting, so I looked out the window – it came from Rose’s side, but I couldn’t see anything. At first. Then I see Mewthos coming over the wall from the garden next to Rose’s! I’m concerned that he’s beginning to roam father and farther from home! I think I need to start working on some indoor climbing structures – they do love hopping in and out of the empty boxes in the lounge!

The fridge is starting to whiff a bit, nothing in there is past its sell-by date, but it’s clearly the chicken necks & giblets I bought for the cats, so I’m cooking that now. It doesn’t smell very appetising, though – but the sell-by dates on the packets are 5th & 6th December; today is the 2nd. I’m hoping the cooking will improve that, I’m not adding any spices since I don’t fully know which are okay for cats and which are not, better safe than sorry.

I’ve also got some chicken breast and livers for myself. I wasn’t planning to, but I guess I better made those today as well. Power is scheduled to go off again from 14:00 – 16:30 … but our government isn’t capable of planning, so one can never know.

Oh my gosh! Mewthos just came in frothing at the mouth! Literally, bubbles of foam coming out of his mouth! Scared the crap out of me! I was just about to start washing the dishes, having just given Ziva & Lady Jane a plate of the soup to taste. Ziva turned her nose up and stalked off, Lady Jane cleared the plate! I saw Mewly and called him to get a taste as well, when I saw the foam around his mouth!

I rushed to grab some kitchen towels to wash clean the froth off and tried to get him to open his mouth so I could see his tongue. It looked normal, so I washed his face – there was an orange streak on the right side of his nose, could be a scratch? His right eye was also blinking a lot, so I got some water and washed it out. He did not like that! I don’t care, if he wants to play dangerous, he has to endure the consequences! His right paw is also wet, so I got more towels and grabbed him for further washing. I had shut the front door, so I could keep an eye on him. He also liked the soup, and then I filled the pipette with water and squirted it in his mouth – to wash it out – and his eye. Ziva arrived and I let her in. Mewthos is in hiding now … well, he’s under the little desk, taking a bit of a nap …

He seems fine, all systems normal, so I open the door – it doesn’t take long for him to go out, happy as ever! I go down to check on him and tell Rose what happened. Her best guess is that he must have accosted a toad, it’s too dry for frogs here and we’ve never seen any snakes here.

I spent the power outage time first washing the dishes, this time including the kitties water dispenser and their filter. Then I washed the floors – looking good now! I’ve packed the necks & giblets, three per bag, and put them in the freezer, took out a loaf of bread and Mettwurst. Now I’m trying to decide what to make for dinner – can’t go two days in a row without. I was going to cook the chicken breast with the beans, but after having cooked for the mippies, I don’t really feel like chicken. I also have some mushrooms, zucchini and tomatoes – I planned a pasta dinner with those, perhaps tonight?

Delicious! I added garlic chives and sour cream and topped it with the grated cheddar. I gave the mippies chicken necks and giblets – Mewthos and Lady Jane lapped up the stew but left the meat. And Ziva? Left all of it!

I’m just looking at the Load Shedding Schedule now, just in case they continue tomorrow. Well, if they continue on Stage 2, my power will go out from 6:00 – 8:30, but if they escalate to Stage 3 or 4, it will go out from 6:00 – 10:30! That’s four and a half hours! Well, I’ve boiled the kettle and filled the flask – just in case – and I’m baking up the bread now. Better safe than without coffee in the morning!

The PC has crashed a few times too many, it’s now crashing all by itself – flashing me the blue screen. I better open it up and clean it again tomorrow during one of the power outages. What I should really do, is re-format and load everything again from scratch. I just haven’t had the guts to do that … oh, I won’t loose any programs or data, all my programs are on CDs or backed up, but it’s the whole setting everything up again, I find daunting. Maybe I’ll find the patience to do that over Christmas.

Sigh, I been trying for over an hour but just can not get into my online game, it just won’t finish loading! So, I’m giving up and going to bed.
