Up an hour earlier today! And a good
thing, too – the phone rang at twenty to eight, my delivery is outside! WOW!
When I placed the order they scheduled delivery for the 18th
December – and here we are!
I won’t be watching them right away,
I just got into the Jon Pertwee Dr Who Seasons and am still enjoying those.
My back was still painful this
morning, I’m afraid. I fear it may be time to invest in a new mattress – but with
all the expenses of this move, it will have to wait. Quite a while, I should
say.
With the early delivery the mippies
got out early as well, Mewthos, however, is mewling around the house – he wants
me to play with him. So I pick him up for cuddles over and over and over again
till he’s quiet! Lady Jane decides to get cuddles while I’m on the toilet – she
is quite a determined little girl and knows when I can’t ‘escape’ ha ha!
With the ‘success’ of my little
basket, my mind went off on yet another tangent last night – this time making
baskets instead of going from store to store asking for boxes. They could hold
light weight items, like curtains, clothes, etc. That’s really where I usually
go wrong, my mind races along the most fantastic ideas and my body can’t keep
up (or should I say reality can’t keep up with my dreams) and then I loose
interest.
Ha Ha Ha, Rose’s lawn is being mown right now and
suddenly I have three cats underfoot! Literally under my feet! Even Ziva has
come in to get away from the noise. And here comes Romeo, just to complete the
set.
My second basket is coming along
nicely; I’ve used the structure I meant for the first basket, where I had run
into a problem. I made the sticks too hard, so I couldn’t weave with them, but
by using soft, flat sticks, I can weave around the hard ones. And they actually
help hold the shape. I did have to add another stick, to make it an uneven number
– had to ‘steal’ one from Lady Jane, ha ha! While working on it, I’ve come up
with a lot of ‘next time, I should …’ improvement ideas.
At the top of the basket, trying to
finish it off, I’ve run into another problem – the tightly wound sticks won’t
bend to weave into the basket, they just break. So I need to come up with an
idea how to finish the top of this basket.
What a laugh! Mewthos is now calling
me to come with him … it’s time to water the garden! Sorry, Mew, but the wind
is just too unpleasantly cold tonight!
I’m winding a flattened paper stick
through the top two threads and sticking it with glue onto each of the warp
sticks, which I’ve had to cut off. I’m pulling it through the gaps using a paper
clip as my ‘needle’.
Part of me just wants to finish my
basket – but I need to eat, bath and I don’t want to go to bed late again. I
woke and got up nice and early today, I’d rather not loose the momentum which
is finally going in the right direction! It really looks quite good, though, I’m
quite happy with the result! I’ll also need to exercise some discipline when I’m
working again, halt projects mid-way regardless how much I’d like to continue,
to tend to normal chores and daily necessities. And, of course, I can’t neglect
my kitties! They’ll need their daily dose of cuddles and play-time with me as
well.
