Early to bed, early to rise – life is good! Apart from
being a prisoner in my own home – which I don’t mind terribly – I’m quite
content at the moment.
Why am I a prisoner? Well, in the past, the mippies
would come inside to nap while they waited for the sun to move and give them
some shade to play in. Now, they stay outside at all cost – and I can no longer
shut them in to go out for some groceries. Theoretically, I could keep them
shut inside in the mornings – but frankly, I don’t really want to do that to
them! They have such a trauma ahead of them – days of separation and fear –
while I can, I’d like them to have as much play and fun as they can!
Today will be quite a hot day, it’s not yet nine and
it’s already over 30°C in the shade. If I want to get anything done today, I
had better do so before the heat moves indoors. But first: Breakfast!
After breakfast, I first did the dailies: scoop the
litter box, carry the rubbish out, etc. And then it became too hot indoors to
keep going. Mippies have brought in a 2-legged grasshopper, which is hopping
madly around my lounge … with mippies hopping just as madly after it!
Phew! I just finished Rose’s basket, it only took four
hours! There wasn’t much weaving left to do, but then folding over the sticks
and twiddling them back the way the came? That’s awfully fiddly! Well, it’s
finished now and I stuck the second base plate to it, it’s now standing on the
table, with weights, to dry. I must say it looks much better than any of the
other baskets I made; because I used mostly shiny paper for the paper sticks,
and it doesn’t look so dull. It looks quite bright and colourful! Although it
is a little lopsided.
Can’t trust these mippies! I’ve been enjoying fresh
milk, when I turned my back to place the basket on the table, Ziva stuck her
head into my cup, helping herself to my milk!
While I was waiting for the basket base to dry, Rose
called for help. Where he’s feeding the dogs, the freezer seemed to have packed
up and everything was defrosting. I brought my cooler bag and we packed everything
into that, I took it home and packed it into my freezer – which is almost empy
now, anyway.
Then I gave Rose her basket, I’m happy to say she
loves it! And then she surprised me with a whole loaf of her yummy apple spice
cake! All to myself! Yum, yum, yum!
Oh my gosh! Lady Jane just gave me such a fright! She
was sitting on the ledge outside the window, when I looked out she turned to
look at me, lost her balance and went flying off the ledge! That is quite a
distance! She landed spreadeagled on the grass – fortunately she didn’t hit
anything on the way down! I rushed down stairs … but she seems fine. Sat behind
the fence looking at me all surprised why I sound so frightened! She’s walking
fine, no limp, and she even ran a bit, playing with Mewthos. Scared the crap
out of me, though! And that image of Lady Jane spreadeagled on the grass is
going to stay with me for quite some time!
Ha! Twenty to eight and I’ve got all my cats inside!
Mewly wanted lovies, so I played with him with the stick under newspaper, which
attracted Janey … and when they were both engrossed in the game, I shut the
door! Then gave them a treat, which both gobbled eagerly! I called Ziva, and
she arrived soon afterwards – although with Romeo. I’m afraid I shut him out
without even filling the outside bowl with Whiskas – I’m not taking the chance.
Poor boy is caterwauling pitifully outside now … doesn’t understand why he’s
not getting any food, now. I feel bad, but I’d feel much worse if even one of
mine dashed outside again while I try to feed Romeo!
All my mippies have their tummies full of yummies so
they’ve each selected a spot to nap. Mewly on the sleeper couch, Ziva in her
box and Lady Jane on the shelf.
