Day 76 of 100, Monday 7th January

I woke around seven – without any energy. Our gardener arrived and I let him start doing what he wanted for now. Later I asked him to pull the rest of my plants and put them into pots – I’d go and get a bag of potting soil later, but he should put wood in the pots first, fill them half-way with earth from the beds and then place my plants before topping it up with potting soil.

Sigh, he’s a willing and hard worker, but he is neither good with plants nor with ‘strange’ jobs. He went and filled the pots to the brim, there was no space left for plants nor potting soil, so I’m afraid I had to ask him to re-do. He’s on a better track now, but still not quite what I had in mind – and he isn’t removing any weeds from the soil.

Even though I had no energy, when the mippies came strolling in, I shut them in and left to go shopping. I got lucky and the Potting Soil was on special. At the Spar I hit a jackpot! First, they did have sourdough bread – so I took two – and then, when I finished, I asked for boxes. First they brought me three vegetable boxes – they’re open at the top, more like crates. I explained that I’m afraid I couldn’t use them, and they went and looked for what I needed. Since I had said that it’s even okay if they are flattened already – two people came out with a huge box filled with flattened boxes! Jackpot!

Back at home, I got a call from the agency – asking whether some prospective tenants could look at the flat sometime today. I asked what time, and she said she’s tied up at the moment, but the people are in her office – so I suggested she send them along, I’d show them the place (without having the agent snoop around my place!).

It was two black ladies, who apparently plan to move in. They basically just glanced around the place, taking in the damages without comment. Curious, I nudged, and one of them stated quite nonchalantly that the agent had told them all about the repairs … and I caught some puzzling looks being exchanged between them. They didn’t even ask how long ago any of the damages occurred, let alone why nothing had been maintained! This leads me to believe, that the agent has spun them some yarn, which they had swallowed whole-sale! Poor things! Since their whole attitude did not invite any helpful suggestions, I didn’t waste my breath with futile attempts.

I am, however, a little curious about the story they’ve been told! Just how does an agent explain away her own utter incompetence – and to top it all, blame it on someone else? I have no doubt that whatever she told these two ladies, put all blame on me.

Ah well, those who matter, know the truth.

Rose had been up and out very early this morning, she took some people to the airport before I had even woken up! She got back around the time I got up! And while I was out shopping, she got busy with a surprise for me! A lovely, deliciously yummy cake! I’m munching on it right now – it’s so yummy, I can’t keep my hands off it! Even though I’m quite full from breakfast! Ha Ha, I guess I’ve got Mewly’s greedy chops!

I’ve tried calling my boss twice, so far. No response. I left a message asking him to return my call – but I’ll keep trying every hour. Most vexing!

My garden looks positively naked now! Our gardener has potted all my flowers, and he’s pulled up all my border fences. All that’s left are Cosmos and Snap Dragons. It’s quite a depressing sight!

When I was making another futile attempt to call my boss, Rose called for help. She couldn’t get a padlock open, so she asked if I would mind helping. No problem! And, as these things go, it opened quite easily! I’ve been there many times myself! You try and try and try until eventually you give up and ask for help – and then, suddenly, it works quite easily! Rose is feeding dogs for some people, who also have a very well-stocked garden! While Rose was busy with the dogs, I did a bit of gardening – and helped myself to some chives (with permission!). I looked at them at the shop today, but decided they are too expensive – so it was quite lucky that Rose needed help!

When our gardener finishes for today, Rose will take him to meet two of her friends, who live a block away – I’m glad he won’t be without income when I move. Ha Ha people are already queuing up to hire him!

The weather has changed, yet again, through the day! This morning it was sunny and hot – unpleasantly so, as a matter of fact! But now it’s overcast and the wind is quite cool, though not exactly cold.

Rose tells me that, after our chat earlier today, when she went inside, she surprised Lady Jane sleeping on her bed! She’s never done that before! She’ll visit, she’ll explore and she’ll munch some food – but she’s never settled down for a nap before!

I haven’t packed any boxes in a while, so they’ve all sort of settled down again … somewhat. If I start packing again, they’ll go nuts again! I am so, so very tired of this whole business, yet there are still so many things to do. I still need to finalise regarding my drivers license, I need to get to Move-a-Pet and finalise matters – but first, I need to talk to my boss, to get some details. And I should visit Quizzy Lizzy, and I also want to visit Earl before I leave.

Well, I decided to take an early bath – if my mippies give me trouble coming inside, again, I don’t want to end up having to bath at nine! Right now, they’re all around me – but I suppose when I want them, they’ll be ‘taking a message’!

I’m quite tired already, and it’s only just past seven. Between the breakfast, the cake and the fruits I’ve eaten today, I’m not hungry enough to warrant cooking.

Crap! Crap! Crap! I’ve got the mini’s inside, but Ziva dashed out with Romeo – having turned her nose up at the lamb in gravy I gave them! I do NOT have patience for these game, none at all! It’s a viscous cycle: the more I stress, the more they act up – and their acting up adds to my stress! And Ziva is especially sensitive. If only Romeo wouldn’t come running every night for his treat! It’s when I try to get him out that mine tend to escape! Now Ziva is somewhere outside, and I have no clue if I can get her inside!

Maybe it’s time I start dosing them with CalmEze. But how? I can never predict what Ziva will turn her nose up at! What she loves and munches with pleasure today – she sniffs and turns away from tomorrow! I just wish life would get to normal!

Ouch! I was just walking with Mewthos in my arms, when I stumbled over Lady Jane – they both got a fright and Mewthos’ back claws dug into the inside of my upper arm! The most sensitive skin! It is painful! The area around each scratch is turning blue – I can feel it turning blue! Lady Jane is hiding, scared out of her wits; Mewthos is skittish – and Ziva still hasn’t come in! I’m opening the door and calling her every couple of minutes – not so much as a whisker! I can’t see her anywhere, either. Argh, my arm feels like it is burning! This is by far the most painful injury my mippies have ever inflicted on me – though only, because it’s in such a sensitive place.

Shame, both mippies were cowering on the bedroom window sill! I sat down and petted them for a bit – then I shut the door, getting ready to go out and fetch Ziva. As I open the door, she’s just outside … but somewhat skittish about coming in. I step back, giving her a wide range to walk through and she finally comes in! She let me wait and worry for half an hour! And she goes straight to her bowl and starts to munch!

I’ve mixed some CalmEze with custard, they’ve all three had some of that. The dosage information is not very helpful – it just says 1 pump (=2ml) for small cats, 2 pumps for large cats; if anxious event is longer than one day then continue with once daily dosing for duration. Dosage may be reduced according to desired effect. Well, this anxious event iis going to continue for about a month – so I’m starting them off easy: I’ve mixed one pump into a spoonful of custard – which they all shared. I can’t tell much of an effect, they’re all napping, like they always do at this time. After all, I don’t want them comatose! I just want to reduce their anxiety …
