Mewthos climbed into bed with me and wanted to snuggle
under the duvet – it’s too hot for me to cover myself, so I created a duvet
cave for him to crawl into. He purred like a locomotive! Loud and happy! He
never stays very long, so I tickled and stroked and kissed his face while he
was within reach.
I struggled somewhat to get to sleep, my mind wasn’t
ready to shut down. I’m learning which routines help get me to sleep quicker,
and the faster I fall asleep, the less time I waste in bed! Tossing and turning
is a real time waster in my opinion – it doesn’t help to get up and do
something at that time, and it just means I wake up late the next morning.
I woke around six but only got up at seven this
morning. Mippies were quiet, patient darlings this morning – so much so, that I
forgot to open on time! Mewthos came to remind me at half nine!
Lady Jane gave me quite a fright when she excitedly jumped
at a pigeon which flew by to tease her … off the window sill! For a while I
was afraid she might go further – she was investigating routes to jump off the
ledge! Fortunately she came to her senses and jumped back up, walked through
the window, through the door and went down the stairs. I know Ziva can managed
the jump off the ledge onto the stair wall – but it’s very tricky, since the
wall is rounded at the top, not flat!
The weather is lovely and cool, almost cold today! It
is overcast, but it rained during the night – I guess that’s why I don’t have a
headache today. I’m really rather tired of this headache story, I’m beginning
to feel quite fragile! And I can’t say that I like that feeling!
I did some cleaning already, starting with the
bathroom – Mewthos got all excited when he heard the toilet flush! Had to stick
his head in the bowl to investigate!
I’m still struggling with this new mouse – yesterday
both mouse and keyboard stopped reacting! I had to pull out the USB and plug it
back in, before I could use my PC again! I think it has to do with the distance
between the USB and the mouse (& keyboard); the images on their ‘directions’
were for a laptop – where the USB would be no more than 2 or 3 cm away from
both; whereas with my PC, the desktop is between them. My old set had a ‘router’
on a cable – I could move that router so it was near the mouse, and then I
could actually go use the PC from the armchair, half a meter behind the desk! I
guess I’ll just have to learn how to optimize – and if this set lasts as long
as the last one (which I used for 8 years!) I’ll be quite happy!
I received an SMS confirming my mippies micro chips
have been registered! I should go and login to keep the data up to date, now.
No rush though, since I still don’t have any clue of my next residential address!
I guess I spoke to soon about being headache-free, as
the afternoon progresses, it’s starting to set in. Fortunately no more than a
mild pressure, which doesn’t really qualify as an ‘ache’, I reckon.
I’ve been hesitant to pack my knitting – what if I don’t
remember how to continue? So I kept it outside till I could ‘test’ whether I
was able to pick up where I had left off … at least here, I can still ask Rose
to help! I’m happy to say, I was able to pick it up and carry on quite easily –
my mind might not remember, but my hands know quite well what to do! Thanks to
Rose, that is! If I hadn’t decided to knit a few months ago, and had her help
to remind my hands what they should be doing … I was totally lost then!
Nice: it’s so cool today that I can comfortably wear a
jersey – I’m using this chance to put some wear on Mewthos’ twirly, which I
want to pack to travel with my mippies. Sigh, I don’t want to think about it … Rose
was saying earlier how this time next month her garden will be mip-less! Such a
sad thought …
Oh my! Am I smart or what? I pack a box marked – among
other things – ‘knitting’, and forget to pack the knitting into it! Ha Ha Ha!
Hmmm, trouble with my mippies! When I called them in,
as usual, Mewthos and Lady Jane came inside – but Ziva wouldn’t move! I could
see her sitting on Rose’s gate-rail – she just ignored me and stayed in her
place!?! That worried me, so I unlocked the gate and went downstairs to see if
something was the matter … nope! When I came down, she started sauntering
towards me! Of course now Mewthos and Lady Jane were downstairs and outside as
well – and not one of them showed any interest or intention of coming inside!
Mewthos sat by the tap … wanting me to water the garden! Ha Ha Ha! Well, I left
them all outside and sat back to wait.
They are definitely realizing that something big is coming
– and they are worrying. They see more and more things disappearing into boxes,
shelves are emptying, boxes are piling up, even the garden is getting empty –
and they don’t know what it means! So they are behaving … differently. Like the
constant guard on me – I’m practically under cat-guard at all times!
And then tonight’s odd behaviour! Eventually Lady Jane
came inside with Ziva cautiously peeking around the corner … I gave them their
treat, but Mewthos just would not come! Eventually I shut Ziva and Lady Jane in
the bedroom, so I could go outside and get Mewthos! I thought I saw him sitting
on the gate-rail, but it was already dark and the cat seemed too white … when I
went downstairs, Felix was sitting on the corner post growling and Romeo who
was huddled below … and Mewthos came strolling along the wall from the
courtyard! That means the cat on the gate-rail must have been Tontos (aka The
Terror)! I picked up Mewthos and carried him inside, holding on to him while I
locked the gate and shut the door! Then I let the ladies out.
I gave them all another treat – one I know they all
like: duck in gravy! They all sat down eating quite happily! I even gave them
each a tiny cut off my own dinner – they just have me so worried! Afterwards,
when they settled in my armchair, I tried to talk to them and explain what is
happening – but I just don’t know how. I don’t want to just reassure them –
because something IS going to happen, and I’m afraid it WILL be traumatic for
them! Maybe, if I start packing THEIR toys into boxes as well? Maybe that will
get the message across, that this move is something we’re all doing together?
Maybe not the mini’s, but Ziva? She might understand? She’s really very clever!
Even Romeo is acting up: I had to chase him off my
kitchen counter on two occasions, today! And then I had to spend some time
cuddling him on my dresser! Poor boy feels like a patchwork of scars! I’m
beginning to think that Romeo is not a young cat, but quite old – he seems to
be aging fast lately. He’s looking thinner – even though he’s getting very well
fed at my place – and he’s not as aggressively attacking, but retreats more frequently.
He’s changed a lot from the love-struck full-bodied ginger who first appeared nine
months ago!
After an extended, intensive cuddle session, Lady Jane
has joined Ziva and Mewthos on the armchair! That girl can cuddle! Ha ha! It is
too darling when she flops in my arms, exposing her tummy for tickles! And she
loves to be brushed! And just wants to be as close to me as she possibly can!
She goes on and on, walking at me, and flopping on me until she’s quite happy –
then she’ll stretch and saunter off!
