Tuesday

I forgot – again – to post the blog last night. Ziva’s current bedtime ritual is to wait for me on the bed. When I come to bed, first I spend time with her – before the Mips come strolling in. Lady Jane still burrows under the duvet and Mewthos nests on top of the duvet. Then I switch off the lights and the Mips activate – sigh! Ziva walks off in disgust and I try to get to sleep as best I can.

In the mornings I always wake up with all three cats lining my bed, Ziva eager to go out, but not waking me. Or maybe I sleep through their attempts to wake me, these days. I still wake up late, even though I went to bed half past nine.

For a change, I have no trouble getting through the door – both Mips stay put. At work, still no internet.

I took the sawed-off curtain rods to work, and the guys suggested to drill a hole right through, put a thread through that hole with washer and nut at each end. My problem now is, that essentially the whole structure will ‘stand’ on those nuts – unless I figure out how to ‘sink’ them. Or we put some ‘feet’ underneath? I’ve discussed the various options with the guys, and the best is if I bring exact measurements plus photos on Thursday, so they can actually see what I’m talking about.

I had just written another full paragraph, and mid-word the power went off. Just for a few seconds – but enough for the PC. It went black. Everything lost. Well, just the one paragraph, since I save constantly, just not mid-word. Well, since there is still no internet, I’m leaving at noon – no use sitting here writing a lot of blah.

Back at home, I visit Rose – Mewthos follows me, but Lady Jane can’t find the way. So she sits outside the lounge window crying, until I come to get her. They explore Rose’s flat – loving the cat food on the counter for her geriatrics – and for some strange reason, they continuously put their paw into every water dish. Oh, they drink, like normal cats, but then put their paw into the water – no clue what that’s about?!? I have weird cats.

Having explored the flat extensively, Mewthos goes out into Rose’s garden. Not having seen him in a while, I go looking for him – of course he doesn’t come when I call, he’s having fun! Turns out he’s under The Terror’s Spekboom, panting and exploring. For a while I was worried he would go into The Terror’s garden, but fortunately he’s not quite that brace – yet. Ziva shows up as well, so now both Mips are exploring the wall, looking for a way through.

Funniest thing, even at Rose’s I can’t go to the toilet alone – Lady Jane has to follow and watch me closely. Just in case, you know? I do something different here. Or maybe in case I drop the toilet paper? She would just love that!

When I leave, I leave the Mips behind. Lady Jane soon finds her way back and upstairs, jumps on the chair for a cuddle. Mewthos needs some help – when I finally go looking for him, he goes and sits on Rose’s stairs looking at me with those big adoring eyes! This time he comes when I call, so I can pick him up and lift him over the fence.

Sigh, I’m home early and could do lots of stuff – but it is just much too hot for anything. It’s over 30°C – in the shade. At three in the afternoon! At least, with the one lounge window open, some air wooshes in and through the lounge.

Speaking of woosh, Lady Jane took another walk on my shoulder and slipped – wooshed a lovely gash in my back! The biggest problem is trying to reach it with a tissue to try and stop the bleeding. I don’t even want to know what my back must look like by now!

Ziva came in around six, as usual, and when she gives me that look – the one that means ‘let me out or it’ll get noisy’ – I decide to give her a pinch of catnip instead. Now she’s waiting for me on the bed – much better than driving me insane demanding to be let out!
After I get out of the shower, Lady Jane comes in and sits by my feet – trying to dry myself in that crampy space plus Mip by my feet? Yeah – since the Mips have entered my life, I’ve gotten really limber! I can bend further, and I no longer have the morning creaks. Who needs a gym, when you have kittens, right?
