When the Mips came to bed last night, they first went
to investigate the wall I had cleaned after that little ‘accident’. I’m still
puzzled how it got that high up on the wall!
Not a good night, with Miss Conehead bumping around on
the bed half the night. It also was unbearably hot again – which I’m guessing
is the bigger reason for my lack of a good night. I woke up quite early, though
without the energy to get up – I finally got out of bed after eight.
Lady Mip is being terribly high maintenance – and so
is Mewthos! They are driving me insane. I still have the flower pot to clean up,
and Mewthos is being a pest, jumping into my vinyl shelf, tossing everything on
the floor. Eventually I give up and open the door – but I’m leaving the gate
closed. Lady Jane should stay indoors for a while, since she has a preference
for climbing the tree and jumping fences – both of which are more dangerous
with the cone. I mean, I saw her fall onto the corner
Someone once told me in utter disgust about hearing of
a cat being returned to the shelter because it is ‘too loving’! “What kind of a
reason is that?” Well, I sure understand it! Cats have a false reputation of
being aloof, low maintenance, self sufficient, of not needing humans except as
staff to fill their food bowl and clean their litter box. And as a reward they
may occasionally sit on your lap and purr. That’s all bollocks! Cats have
needs, just like everything living – and one of their needs is social contact!
Another one is napping – the older they get, the more they need to nap. So,
yeah, an old cat may be low maintenance – but a kitten? Trust me, happy kittens
are very high maintenance! They need LOTS of social contact. And with three
felines, every contact with me is their choice – I’m important to them, not
just a food bowl filler. I sometimes wish I was just that – but overall? I love
my little mippies – and I include mommy mip in that, after all, she, too, is
still very young!
Both Mips just love clean sand day! As soon as I start
pouring the leftover sand out of their box, Mewthos is glued to my every move!
Even when I vacuum last sand after sweeping, he won’t go far. When I pour the
tile cleaner on the floor he has to inspect, then, as soon as I washed the
floor he inspects every inch. That’s why my ‘clean’ tiles always have paw
prints all over! And when I pour the new sand into the clean box? Ecstasy! They
both immediately climb in and start scratching ecstatically! I frequently end
up carrying the box back under the basin with both kitties inside, scratching
around! They don’t get this excited over any treat I give them!
I sneak in some time to have breakfast while the Mips
are keeping themselves entertained – now I’m waiting for them to go down for
their daily siesta, so I can clean the overturned flower pot – which involves
vacuuming, of course! Another ‘of course’ is that as soon as I start moving,
Mippies want to watch!
Poor Lady Jane was sitting next to me looking dejected
/ upset while she watched how much work it was to clean up the toppled over
flower pot. I shut them into the bedroom while I vacuum, though.
Aww, Ouboet is licking is baby sister’s cone! They can
be so cute, loving and adorable! A little later, Lady Jane tries to see what’s
on the table, sits on her haunches stretching her neck to see up there – like a
Meerkat. Only: with the cone she’s a bit top-heavy, and topples over backwards!
Lady Jane’s sister, Quizzy Lizzy, was apparently
smarter – she listened when she was told NOT to pull out stitches! I’m told
Lizzy got tapped on the nose every time she tried to pull out her stitches.
Apparently she tapped back, too! But she got the message and left her stitches
intact – so no Cone of Shame for Quizzy Lizzy! Lady Jane got the same message –
and then some – but she just does not listen!
While the Mips nap on the chair next to mine, I
quickly shower. It’s been another hot and humid day, and the heavy work hasn’t
exactly helped. As I sit down again, I watch poor Lady Jane licking her cone –
she wants to lick herself, and then Mewthos, but she ends up licking only her
cone. At one point, I was picking up all their toys and for a laugh dropped
them into Lady Jane’s cone! She was not impressed.
Throughout the day, I’ve been tempted to take the cone
off for a while, so my poor girl can have a wash and a scratch – but then I’d
have to put it back on, or risk her tearing her cut open, so I’ve resisted the
temptation.
Ziva has been driving me nuts with her ‘wanna, wanna,
wanna go out’ routine. I took some videos of that – but she wasn’t playing
along. Just now I wondered why she’s so quiet now and I couldn’t see her
anywhere. She’d gone to go lie down on my bed, so I spent some time with her.
She’s come out now and is giving Mewthos a wash. Should be a reasonably quiet
night, then.
