As soon as I went to bed, the Mips activated – turned
into pinballs zooming around the room. Of course the bedroom, Mips play
where ever mommy is. Ziva had retreated into one of the flower pots – I fetched
her a little later.
A few humidity waves during the night – and this
morning it was blissfully cool, almost cold! Ziva went out, came back and went
out again when I left for work. Mewthos also tried to get out, but I could push
him back inside with my foot. Poor Lady Jane doesn’t even try anymore – I’ll be
glad when I can relieve her of that cone. It’s quite depressing my little girl.
There are some issues brewing between Mewthos and
Ziva. I’m not quite sure what the problem is, but there’s a lot of growling
happening. I have a suspicion that Mewthos still tries to nurse every now and
then, at least, he still does the kneading, sucking and twirling thing with an
item of my clothes. Alternately, he’s also five months old, so he might be
enjoying puberty – and his mother is not impressed. Well, he’s due for his snip
next month – things should settle down after that.
His enthusiasm for that scratcher I built has also
finally resulted in it falling over – it’s no use putting it back together, I
really must make a plan to stabilise it. They both like to climb up that pole,
and if I could only get it more stable, stronger, I could add more rope so they
would have further up to climb. Only: I have no clue how I’m going to do that.
Only my way home I stopped at the hardware store –
since there were no employees, I asked a fellow shopper for advice. More
helpful than any staff! I got wooden curtain rods, they’re 34mm diameter and
will thus fit inside the 40mm PVC pipes. I also got some 10x90mm screws which
may be a bit of overkill.
On a whim, I also stopped at the butchery and got two
sirloin and some Boerewors.
Back at home, the Mips are really unhappy about their
scratcher having toppled over! They still play with it, but it’s just not the
same. I cut the curtain rods to length – with two Mips overseeing my every
move. Even Ziva is upset that they ‘broke’ the scratcher! It is very rewarding
that they love the toy I made for them more than anything I’ve bought! Even the
toys I’ve bought them they only really enjoy when we play with them together.
Except for the acorns! When I want to distract them, I toss them one of their
acorns! They absolutely love playing with those! But even in the bedroom, they
spend more time with that pole I made for them than they do with the one I had
bought them.
For now, though, I just put the scratcher back
together – man, I had barely moved positioned it and both Mips were on it
already! I had to gently persuade them to get off, so I could fit the supports
back into their slots. The next step involves a lot of drilling, so I’ve left
that for tomorrow. It’s lovely and cold today – too cold to have the door open.
Which means I’m very likely to have a good night’s sleep!
Rain is forecast for tomorrow, including the local
winds, so I may have to wear something a little warmer – which would be
wonderful! Too hot is unbearable, too cold is unpleasant – summer & winter
each last too long, there is never enough spring & autumn in the year.
Spring & autumn is neither too warm nor too cold – and it covers only short
periods of the year. That’s global warming for you – summers used to be
bearable.
Oh, and I took Lady Jane’s collar off. I felt just too
sorry for the unhappy little girl. It must be really terrible for a cat not to
be able to wash, and not being able to put their fur back in line. Like having
your hair all dirty and uncomfortably standing in the wrong direction – all over
your body! She seems to be leaving the last stitch in place now, and she’s so
happy again! Racing all over the flat, chasing Mewthos, being chased by Mewthos
– and for some reason they both absolutely love playing in the curtains! I
should look into getting curtains that don’t reach to the floor.
Well, they all had a big helping of their evening
treat – I mashed it with the last tin of mousse I had left over. Hoping for a
good night, again!
