The night was really unbearably hot, I did not sleep
much nor well. It was nine when I finally woke up – I opened my eyes and found
three pairs of happy kitty eyes staring at me. It’s like that every morning –
it beats being woken by demanding meows, though.
I spent the rest of the morning renewing a car license
– not mine, since I don’t own a car, but Rose’s. Turns out they no longer send
you the form – you have to keep an eye and remember to renew it in time
yourself. Then you have to go to a Post Office – yeah, the least efficient
Office in the entire country! And not just any Post Office, only certain one’s
have a counter for the car licenses. One Counter! First you have to ask for a
blank form, then fill it out – great improvement on the whole process, isn’t
it? And then? Well, you queue. While you patiently sit in line – yeah, we got
lucky, there were chairs – you get bullied by queue-jumpers. And you get to
watch five counters idle for the next two hours! Two hours queuing! Fun times!
No, it wasn’t particularly full, but half the people come unprepared, so it
takes them ages. And then there’s the fun of dealerships, where one guy comes
with a whole stack of forms. We timed the guy ahead of us – he took 45 Minutes!
Rose took all of 3 Minutes!
But that did give me an idea. There are lots of
processes and procedures which have become more complex in the past few years –
and I’m curious why? Why make things more complicated – surely that’s no
improvement?
After that fun, we decided to treat ourselves to a
good old-fashioned breakfast at Wimpy! Well, it was after noon, but still – we
had scrambled egg & bacon croissant.
Then we went to get my weekly groceries – not that I
need much, but I also got what we’ll need for breakfast at work tomorrow! Yum
yum! Rose also got a few things. We put her things through first, then she put
her card down to pay … and the stupid bitch at the till just started ringing up
my groceries! We didn’t notice, Rose was busy at the end of the counter, I was
unpacking the trolley – when Rose asked for her slip the dumb bitch just looked
blank and got cheeky! When I asked her ‘So, what now?’ she just said “I’ll void
everything and we start from scratch” – hence the ‘bitch’.
So, all in all, plenty unpleasant in the day. I was
glad to be home, get cuddled by Mips, finish my coffee, do some housework –
just plain simple ‘I’m home and happy to be here’ stuff. And my Mips are very
attentive – all three of them! Why? Well, The Terror is roaming my garden, so
they are kind of herded inside. He he he.
Well, I’ve taken the photos and measurements for the
scratcher – turns out the guys, in typical male fashion, shortened the rods by
a whole cm! They ‘did me a favour’ cutting the ends straight, which the
hand-saw didn’t, of course. Why is it that men always just DO without asking?
And also usually without thinking. And always, always demand gratitude for
their ‘help’ – whether asked for or not. I could rant about this for a long
time … I’ll spare you that, though!
It's a bit blurry - but it just SO says exactly how Lady Jane feels about her cone - she even ignores her favourite toy!
I felt so sorry for my little girl in the cone
Everything green on that path is Cosmos! That was before I re-planted a lot of them But all I got was an opening in the center There are still hordes of Cosmos growing on the path
The Bromeliads are flowering again
Picture taken from right above - stunning, eh?
Healthy bushes of Vieruurtjies growing in the rockery
Rose's succulents are still doing well in the Rockery
This plant seems to thrive without water!
The cactus is flowering as well
A cactus bud! It's really tiny - but beautiful!
My little Mips - butter couldn't melt in their mouths! They are just so adorable when they are sleeping!
