Lock-down Day 345

Early morning, riddled with anxiety. Silly stuff, nothing really important - yet, I feel like I'm missing something important. It's a feeling, based on nothing relevant ... yet I can't shake the feeling.

Half the laundry is dry, I've put another load in the machine, which is also hanging to dry, now. I've washed the dishes, and it isn't even noon! I've uploaded all photos to my gardening blog - that's one of the anxiety issues: I need to look up some of the data, like, when did I plant the Lychee.

I'm also worried about Smeagol. Why has he stopped coming around? What happened? Surely it can't be because he scratched me a little? I haven't seen him since I caught him munching around eight in the evening that one time ... and the neighbour is asking who he belongs to ... I'm very much afraid that he's going to shoot him, since nobody is truly responsible for him, and he supposedly upsets his dogs ... I don't know ... but I'm worried. Yet, the bowl is never full the next day - and, apart from mine - I've never seen any other cat eat there.

I cleared a bit more jungle lawn, but it's noon and the sun is burning my bonce ... I don't want another headache, thank you very much! Last week was bad enough, no need to repeat stupid, eh?

I can't sit indoors, waiting for the sun to go down ... so ... I go out for a bit, clear a bit, then come back inside ...

Okay, it's official: Mewthos is a real weirdo! I just brought the bin with the weeds to the veranda, to weed the Litchi (or Lychee) pot, when Mewthos started digging in that bin as if there was a mouse in it! He dug in, until he found a little ball of roots, pulled that out and started eating it! Other mippies wanted a share, but he wouldn't have any of it! Weirdo!

Well, I've confirmed, that sprouty thing is definitely a Litchi! There are three altogether, and I felt under the ground, the one comes from a Litchi pit for sure! I don't want to disturb the soil too much, just loosened it a bit.

I'm experimenting a bit with the Brussels Sprouts, trying different ways to keep them growing. I've taken photos and uploaded them to my gardening journal.

It's going on four, so I took a walk in the garden to see if there's somewhere I can work, now. There is, along the wall, behind the rose bushes. There isn't space for any of the spekboom, yet. When I went to get my tools, I felt hungry ...

I had steamed the 2 kg potatoes, earlier, so now I'm just frying them with the fat I had kept from the roast last weekend!

I carried on along the wall, cutting the jungle down. Problem is, most of what's growing there won't stay short and I can't mow that. It's too hard. I'm going to have to keep cutting that with scissors or shears until I can pull it out. I cleared about half of what was left, if not a little more. It looks much, much better - I doubt that I'll be able to continue, tomorrow, though, as I've got a lovely collection of blisters.

No sign of Smeagol all day! I don't understand it ... from one day to the next, he suddenly changes his behaviour! Throughout the whole demolishing of his territory, he continued to come around, yet now ... out of the blue ... he sneaks here at night to eat. I don't know what to make of it ... I'm really worried ... I wish I knew what to do?

He's alive and as well as he's always been!

I've just had a fun-filled half hour. I was in the bath, when I suddenly smelled ... urgh! What a pong! And I see Mini scratching at my clothes, as if she's burying her droppings! Without my glasses, I can't see ... so, instead of a relaxing bath, I rushed to get out, so I could figure out what happened. I'm not sure how, but Mini got a load of crap stuck to her bum! I grab some toilet paper and wipe her butt, again and again, until I got it all off. She's been trying to get it off herself - by dragging her butt on the tiles ... streaks going from the litter box to the bath! I start cleaning that up, when I look up and see Smeagol! I had left the curtains open enough for me to see him, when he comes to eat! I just had to see him today, and I hoped to catch him!

Well, I did see him. I went outside - through the back door - and took him a pouch of Whiskas! He dashed away when I got too near, and wouldn't come near the food until I moved well away ... just like in the beginning, when I first started feeding him! Months ago! What happened? Why is he reverting back to behaviour we had already worked through? Well, I talked to him, softly, but didn't approach. He came back, planning to carry on eating his kibbles when he smelled the wet food and ate that, instead.  It was drizzling and I still had Mini's crap to clean up, so I couldn't spend time waiting for him to finish eating, then hoping to re-establish our bond ... I'll keep trying. Right now, though, I'm just really happy to have seen him!

I've cleaned up the passage, I'll have to wash the floor tomorrow. It's past eight, so a little late for that kind of thing. Mewthos is now sulking, because I've twice removed him off the chair, so I could carry on typing ... time to call it a day.
