Relatively good night, late morning, though. Yesterdays strenuous work-out is taking its toll - I'm still sore!
Getting started slowly. I've set dough on the go to make myself bread rolls for the weekend.
Busy morning already, ha ha! Two neighbours just showed up, one after the other. The first one came for Marigold seed and he brought me tomato plants! Awesome! I showed him around, we talked - bit by bit I'm learning the history of my home. Who lived here, who did what when, in this garden.
He also mentioned that he could arrange for some of his workers to help me in the garden on some Saturdays. If he vouches for them, I'm willing to give that a try. I really could use help, there is such a lot of heavy labour that needs doing. And if I don't overspend, I can afford the help.
The concern, living here on my own, is of course safety. That's why I've not looked for anyone - I really can't afford someone who could come back later to do some affirmative shopping in my home!
Then my new neighbour showed up, just to show me how I can help myself, if the gate starts acting up again! He's on his way to his daughter, and will pop in tomorrow afternoon to get some seeds.
I've decided to try something different. That section outside my bedroom is mostly covered with thorns - nothing else. I thought of buying plenty more weed guard, to cover ALL paving, maybe even the rose beds, because I really can't keep up with the weeding ... but that is going to quite expensive ... so, I thought: why not use cardboard? I've got an abundance of cardboard, with all the deliveries, and the main purpose is to deny the plants light.
So, I've pulled off all tape, cut them open and started placing them in the section. I've also got plenty of bricks to weigh them down with ... and without the plastic, if it rains and dissolves; no harm!
Now I've planted the tomato plants from my neighbour - mostly into the pots, and a few in the tomato bed - he said they were cherry tomatoes, so pots should be fine. Then I watered. And started working the grapevine bed ... only ... the sun is burning ten types of crap out of me! So I went and put up the gazebo!
That's today's achievement. I know, it doesn't look like much - especially for a full day's work ... but yeah! That's how long it takes to clear just one bed. Properly, of course! Having the grapevine tousle my hair while I was working, didn't exactly help, ha ha!
Well, that wasn't on any of my plans of what I would like to do this weekend - but that's how it goes. I see something, feel like doing something and that's what I do. All day long. And there is such a lot to be done, that nothing is a waste of time!
Well, Ziva is demanding cuddle time, quite loudly ... time to settle on the bed ...
