A fairly good night. I did half-wake a couple of times throughout the night, but still got a good night's sleep. So much so, that I was happy to get up at five!
I enjoyed my coffee and sat in my armchair, looking out the back and just thinking ... I do that a lot. I think about what gardening tasks are most urgent, which I should try to get to that evening. And I think about work. How to tackle this, that and the other. Prioritising. I just like to sit and think ... a lot.
When I tried to get dressed, Mewthos flopped on the bed and pawed at the brush, so I spent some time brushing him! Oh, what a happy chappy he was! Ha ha! When I went to get my socks, Ziva called - she had sprawled on a blanket in the bottom shelf - I didn't even know she was there! So I gave her a few pets, as well. When I went around the bed, to open the curtains, I found Mini on the top bunk of the cat tree, next to the chest of drawers! She no longer cries when I touch under her chin! That's a big relief! Janey curled up on the chair by the front door. She always gets a bit of cuddles as I'm leaving.
The gate behaved better this morning. Still not satisfactorily, as it wouldn't close automatically - not at all! No worries, though! I never drive away until I see it is closed, anyway.
First I got myself some food. This Monday's outage is costing me a good chunk of money, having to buy my lunch every day!
Well, they had some intriguing plants at the Spar today, so I bought two of them. One is a cactus, which is flowering. I just had to rescue that! And the other is a succulent in full flower - a Calandiva. With red flowers!
They also had miniature roses - but since I'm not even able to keep the bushes in my garden alive, I figured it best to leave them.
Oh! Surprise, surprise! LESS load shedding than expected! We're now down to Stage 2, and load shedding will be lifted a day earlier! So, no outage when I get home today - but one more from midnight till 02:30. And that's the end of it ... for now!
Back at home, first I chopped off the 'water-draining' sprouts on the peach tree - my neighbour pointed out that they should be cut, as they just drain the tree. Added them to the pile behind the fence.
And then I sat down to clean up the poppies and some of the marigold - they suffered quite a bit from the fallen tree. I collected a lot of seeds and also cut a lot of flowers down ... scattered some of the seeds along the fence, where I had cleaned on Monday, and some in the Marigold bed.
I offered seeds to my neighbours - I've got such a lot already, with more still to come ... Two neighbours are taking up my offer!
Well, mippies are really restless tonight. I've brushed, I've cuddled ... Mewthos sat right next to my dinner plate - I barely managed to cut pieces fast enough for him! Ziva and Janey also got their share - Mini had turned her back on me, so she missed out.
Now, I'm just going to watch an episode of 'Columbo' and then I'll have to turn off the PC - for the last time, I hope - before I go to bed ...
