With the power outages, I've started re-reading 'Unseen Academicals' by Terry Pratchett. It's a bit challenging, balancing the book, the LED light and one or two cats, who want cuddles. I found a precious bookmark in that book, too! Made by the nicest resident of the German Old Age Home, where I worked before I got this job. Professor Funke, who was a literature professor at Pretoria University. Funnily enough, I introduced him to Terry Pratchett and he fell in love with the Discworld! I think he even bought the book for me, as it's about football, and the bookmark he made links to FIFA 2010, which was held in South Africa - and we all know how crazy Germans are about football, eh?
It was a lovely memory to re-discover!
So, at twenty to nine, when my chocolate delivery arrived - I took advantage of the 'forced' break, and went off to DisChem. I had cleared it with my boss.
I got to the mall, just before business' opened. I took a stroll through a clothing store - nothing suitable. Another stroll through Woolworths - and I found a few desperately needed items! I found two shorts, which fit - and are very comfy! I can wear them at night or at home! The one's I had bought a few months ago no longer fit - I've been picking up weight, again. Well, they still fit, but very, very snug, ha ha! And I also found three tops. At home, I don't want 'sleeveless', I want straps. The less material, the better! The one's I'm still wearing are ... well ... falling apart. No wonder, as I've been wearing them for about 5 years, now! And I also got more underpants.
After trying on the tops and shorts, and feeling how comfy they fit - I went back to the shelves to look for some more. None in my size! Not one! It's weird, they seem to cater for a size people who - when you look around the mall - is definitely not the majority! I mean, who wears Extra Small? And what is now called 'Large' was called 'Medium' or 'Small' in my day. So, no wonder that the 'real human' sizes go fast!
At DisChem I also got everything I wanted & needed! And I didn't even have to inconvenience any of their employees! Yeah - not a customer friendly store. Though their self-medication counter is very friendly and helpful!
Although I've spent quite a bit of money, I'm very happy with my purchases! I can't wait to get home, now ... and wash my new clothes! Well, I'll only do that on Saturday, anyway, but still ...
And guess what? I'm wearing my garden shoes to work again today! What is WRONG with me? Ha Ha, actually, they stand next to each other in front of my bed ... both are black ...
Okay, I just cleared it with my boss, if At comes in tomorrow (he's ill today), then it's okay for me to quickly dash to Orchards Spar. It's not far, and I usually buy At's groceries for the week on Thursdays. It's always quick, though, to be honest, I don't know whether it takes an hour or less. I don't dawdle, I just dash through, look at the prices and take what I, or At, need.
Back at home, watering and weeding some more. The tomato bed is looking good! Not just weeds growing there!
Since I also treated myself to some bath stuff, I was quite tempted to take a bath instead of a shower tonight - but laziness won and I showered!
Well ... time to sit back, cuddle mippies ... no load shedding scheduled for tonight!
