Day 35 of 100, Wednesday 28th November

Mediocre night, but no bright ideas as I was going to sleep. The weather is still the same, bouts of hard drizzle, some sunshine and cold winds.

I could, but just don’t feel like going shopping. How do I cope so long without groceries? Oh, I have all the groceries I need – what drove me shopping every week was bread, and since I stock & freeze, that’s no longer a driving factor.

Lady Jane has me a bit worried, she’s been throwing up all morning. Nothing in there to show why – just the FIT32 pellets, some Whiskas, a few strands of grass. I took a walk outside to see if there’s something from the trash-crowd behind me – nothing. Couldn’t find Mewthos and he didn’t come when I called – I got quite worried … then he’s suddenly rolling by my feet! After that he went into aggressive ‘I want lovies’ mode – throwing himself at my legs, reaching as high as he can! Good thing he is a cat – any larger animal would be toppling me on a regular basis!

While I was outside, I decided to cut carnations. I’ve taken to cutting the twisted ones short, leaving just a short ‘stub’ above ground and as each bush is reduced to basics, I can remove my sticks one by one and the plants can keep growing. Maybe I should remove them and give them either to Rose or plant them where they won’t be mowed down. Maybe I should try to put some into my flower pots and take them with me? Well, I went seed-collecting as well and got lucky – I even managed to get some Vieruurtjie seeds! Not many, and quite small ones, but still – better than none.

I should start filling the various pots with the plants I want to move, give them time to settle before they go on the long trip. So many ‘I should’s and I just don’t feel up to any of them. Fortunately I’ve made good progress so I don’t need to worry about finishing in time. Sigh, and now I’ve got Romeo caterwauling in my bedroom!

And poor Lady Jane is throwing up again! That’s the fourth time today, like she can’t seem to keep any food down! What came up is the Whiskas she’s eaten since the last time she threw up – when all that came out was just bile, there was nothing else left. She’s been around me most of that time, so I’m pretty sure all she ate was the Whiskas and she drank some water from the bathtub. Yeah, I had to run a little water into the tub for Ziva – don’t ask, I don’t. She sat in the tub looking at me, looking at the tap – so I put the plug in and trickled some water in; Ziva was happy! Lady Jane joined her. Right now I’m surrounded by four cats, all in ‘rest’ mode – funny thing, Ziva is settled with the pink feathery bird-chirpy toy at her bum – looks like she’s the pink Easter bunny! It’s only six, and I’m not ready to shut the door, especially not with Romeo inside.

I’ve been watching MacGyver lately, since I have all the seasons as well as the movies. It takes a few episodes to settle to ‘80s’ pace, which is more relaxed and I can actually follow the plot. The newer shows are too full of the latest technology, more artificial than human, the motives, too, are often beyond me. Anyway, I’m quite enjoying MacGyver and go to thinking just how clever that series really is, how diverse; it covers such a variety of scenario from archaeology to espionage. It’s simple, light entertainment.

I’ve also started watching Alfred Hitchcock Presents, half hour tales with a twist. Equally diverse, though far more captivating! Unlike MacGyver, you don’t want it running in the background or you’ll miss something. It’s quite humerous at times, too and the introductions by Alfred Hitchcock are entertainment in themselves!

I’ve given the mippies their nightly treat – in light of Lady Jane’s troubles, I opted for a sachet of Royal Canin Kitten food. I watched her eat, she didn’t gobble it down but ate at her normal pace, even left some, just like she always does.

Over an hour has gone by and Lady Jane has kept everything she ate. I hope that whatever caused her trouble is finally out of her system for good! Poor girl, she’s not been quite herself today, while I was looking for Mewly she was under my feet mipping to be picked up all the time! I’d carry her over my shoulder till she wanted down, then pick her up again when she mipped, etc. Now she’s sleeping with her brother on the sleeper couch.
