Day 20 of 100, Monday 12th November

After the bath, I did a last load of laundry: towels! Then I made myself a cup of Chamomile tea and went to bed really early.

Well, since I went to bed earlier, I got to sleep earlier – and woke up before six. I still had trouble getting to sleep, though.

At least the morning was very productive – when I finally got up, ha ha! I ‘tricked’ the mippies with a treat and went out just before eight. As I feared, the shops only open at nine. Sigh. I wandered around the mall and found Clicks at least was already open, so I went in and had a look around. I got some more Panamor – since one is only allowed to buy one box every 3 days now. Why? Because stupid people can’t be trusted with more. Oh, and there are also only 9 per box now.

Woolworths was also open early, so I decided to get the panties I need. I walked by a shoe-stand … and saw something I liked: simple, flat, comfortable, presentable. I tried them on and they felt really comfortable, too. And the price? Much less than I feared! By then it was after nine, so I went to get the router. On the way, I stopped at a Cape Union Mart and they had some socks I liked – most of mine are worn through. They had ones that are neither at the ankle, nor would I have to fold them over, so I took a pair to try. I’ll see how they feel, if they’re fine, I’ll go back and get more. Then I got the router and finally I went to the bank to get my statement stamped as proof of residence. Last I went to Checkers for groceries. Not much, just spinach, carrots, mushrooms, potatoes, bananas and milk. Oh, and as a treat, I also got myself some celery! So, all in all I accomplished more than I had hoped for – and in much less time than I feared!

Back at home, Rose had called the Body Corporate, who will send out a plumber to look at that outlet by my gate – which had overflown yet again, and this time it smelled bad, too! I saw that when I left, so I’m glad I don’t have to deal with that at all.

Back upstairs, mippies are happy the door is open. You’d think they rush out and downstairs the instant the door opens – they don’t. First they sit around by the door, I’m not sure why – they’re not coming to me, just sitting by the door. Romeo was happy to see me come home, too. Ha Ha! After I packed away the groceries, I was quite glad to get back online! Taking care of my cities, explaining my absence ha ha – I was missed!

I’m wearing my new shoes and my new socks – they are quite comfortable! The shoes are soft leather, so I won’t have any chafing and won’t get blisters, which is a nice bonus. I had the rest of the poached eggs for breakfast then went to look around the garden. I showed off my new shoes – Rose agrees they look fine. Nothing spectacular, but comfortable and presentable. She’s counted ten tomatoes on her bush, I counted only two on the one in the rockery. I’m not sure what’s happening with the gem squash, a lot of the leaves are wilting and I saw only one fruit – but still quite a lot of flowers. I also saw a lot of Cosmos seeds, so I started collecting and ended up with a whole handful!

The plumbers were just here, the drain was blocked with tampons, pads and such like. Rose thinks it must be the people next to me, upstairs – the one’s who throw used nappies in the garden. I agree – but, if the Body Corporate contacts my rental agency, how can I prove it isn’t me? Well, I’ll tinkle on that bridge when I get to it.

The laundry is folded and packed – I fished Mewthos out of the wardrobe afterwards. The dishes are done and for dinner I’m having just the last two rolls, I’m not very hungry.

I’ve worn the shoes and socks all day – all well! I’ll go and get more of those socks next time I go out.

Our gardener worked for Rose today, he’ll come to me tomorrow – I think I’ll have him clear the path one last time. After all, I’ll still be using it for 2 ½ months. Sometimes you just have to do some things just for yourself – even in the midst of chaos.
