Mewthos woke me by taking a stroll on
me from my legs up to my head! Casual stroll, mew, mew, mewling all the way.
You know? Mew-stroll! Ziva was curled up by me as well, washing herself.
Got up, opened the door – it’s wet,
windy and overcast outside. Mewly is not happy about it, I see him holding his
paw off the ground – just like the rain hurts Rose’s knee, it hurts Mewly’s
wrist, where he damaged his growth plate. Yet he still chooses to go out. He
doesn’t need to, he wants to. They have everything they need inside: two
scratching poles, a clean sandbox, and lots of toys. Yet they like to go
outside, even when it’s raining.
I had breakfast – under close
supervision of Ziva, who liked the smell of what I was eating. Very much so,
she watched every bite I took with interest. They’re spending most of the day
inside, using anything for entertainment – I’m their favourite toy! Lady Jane
took an unintentional somersault when she stuck her head in an empty box from
atop the printer, the box tumbled down taking Lady Jane with it! It was
hilarious! Right now Lady Jane is chasing anything that moves, climbing on the
scratcher, chasing a leaf, playing with toys – she’s clearly frustrated by the
weather.
Clearly I didn’t go shopping –
again. I woke up late, though earlier than yesterday, and I see no reason to go
out in such cold, miserable weather. I’m not like my mippies, ha ha! I
considered doing some … well, crafting. I don’t like that term, though, it’s
mostly associated with expensive arty decorations. The German word ‘basteln’ is
more making or building something, sometimes decorative – like models, but
mostly something to be used, something that has a function. ‘Basteln’ is more
associated with building something using inexpensive materials, whereas crafting
uses expensive supplies.
Whatever the term, I considered
spending some time on one of the ideas I had during my many failed attempts to
fall asleep. I just don’t feel up to it, though. I’d have to clear the rest off
the table first – and I just don’t know where to put what’s on the table. I’ve
gotten into the habit of using it to store odds and ends. A habit I should make
every effort to break in my new home. It wasn’t always like this, at first I
did keep it clear and used it for dinner and hobbies – but when I lost interest
in indoors, I just started cluttering it.
Mippies are driving me crazy all
day, coming in, going out, playing ‘catch’, zooming around, climbing in boxes,
bouncing off the walls. They are joined by Romeo, moping and wailing, then
settling down only to start grunting and wailing again. Then they go outside
and come back wet again. Ziva comes to sit on the Ottoman next to me only to
projectile-vomit onto the carpet. Fortunately I adhered to the advice never to
feed a cat anything that doesn’t match the carpet – Lady Jane comes running to
sniff the warm yums on the floor, but I clean it up before she can.
I’ll make it an early night tonight,
though. I’m feeling somewhat dazed from lack of sleep, not quite myself. And
now I’ve got Mewthos growling and meowling at him whily Lady Jane is parked
under the scratcher looking at Romeo and Ziva on the Sleeper couch.
Sigh, they may be running outside in
the rain, but they sure aren’t crapping in it! Just had to clean the litter box
a second time today – and I can hear industrious scratching going on in it
right now! Lady Jane, I think.
And here’s Romeo, settling on the
window sill yet again. It’s half seven, I’d like to bring my mippies in so I
can take a bath – and here’s Romeo!
Near seven I shut the door, then
searched the flat in case Romeo had got shut in – luckily he hadn’t! Gave
mippies a single treat, and now I’ll have my bath.
Now I have seen everything! Would
you believe this: while I was in the bath, Ziva came to investigate; it’s been
quite a while since any of them joined me while I bath. Well, after a while
Mewthos strolled in and Ziva and Mewthos started playing catch! In the
bathroom! I expected a splash at any moment, and then? I watched Ziva fish
something out of the litter box … she had one paw in the box, and was fishing
for something … next thing a brown you-know-what comes flying out and the two
of them start playing with it, as if it was a feather or a marble! Seriously! I
have really seen it all, now! After a while Ziva sniffed it and promptly tried
to cover it. I guess I should just be grateful it didn’t come flying into the
bath!
Well, never a dull moment with my
mippies, eh?
