So much for the early night. I got to the bedroom
early, put out the lights early, tried to get to sleep early ... and then?
There some sort of green and red light in the yard two places from me, which
shines a light-show a la Disco-lights into my bedroom! A green, then red light
zipping around my ceiling through the curtains – can you imagine how exciting
that was for four kittens and one cat? Yeah! For me, not so much!
Also, I could feel a migraine coming on, so I got up
and took meds – which means that I’ll oversleep the next morning, for sure.
Taking any anti-inflammatory medication affects – not so much my sleep, as – my
wake-up time. And taking this after nine in the evening? Well, I woke up half
eight.
If I wasn’t assured on all fronts that it’s impossible
– I’d swear Ziva is pregnant again! But I’m assured that she can’t get pregnant
while still nursing. And they would have noticed when she went in to be
sterilised. That round little ball forming simply must be her putting on
weight. And her odd behaviour ... well, she’s getting accustomed to living in a
home where she’s welcome – even when she drives me up the wall! And her
favouring dark, enclosed places, like the cat-carrier, the bottom shelf and the
closet ... well, the kitties like to explore those, too. She just can’t be
pregnant – right?
Oh, and I’m sorry to say that the potential adoption
fell through. That’s the second time, now. I’m beginning to wonder whether I’ll
be keeping the twins for the rest of their natural life, after all? Or mine.
Let’s not go there. But four cats? That’s a bit much – even for me! My mum
called me ‘Katzenmutter’ when I was still in Primary School – ‘Katzenmutter’
having a similar meaning as ‘cat lady’, with the ‘crazy’ strongly implied.
Although the literal translation is ‘cat mother’ and the correct English
equivalent being ‘mother cat’. Yes, I can be pedantic. Where was I? Oh yes,
four cats being a bit much even for me.
Another person was interested in adopting one of the
twins – but hasn’t called back to confirm, so I guess …
Back at home, the Mip Mips are going wild. Ziva went
out, I used Rose to divert the Mip Mips attention so I could check on the bird.
He seems to be fine, and shows a healthy appetite! He’s finished all grapes and
mousse already, so I re-fill his food bowl after cleaning it.
We play rat-race – again! They don’t seem to tire of
it! Later, we let them entertain themselves … and Lady Jane got hold of the
toilet paper again and dashed through to the bedroom with it! She loves getting
hold of things – preferably white things – and running off with her prize! It’s
one of her specialty games. Like when she went zooming around the bedroom with
one of my grey socks? Or when she grabbed my white underpants off the towel
holder? Or last night, when she pulled the apron off the fridge? That was the
second time she went dashing off with my apron! And just now she got hold of a
scrap of white cloth – I think it came off the duvet? And she’s running around
proudly showing everyone her prize!
And just as I thought my back might soon be
scratch-free – Lizzy jumps four-paws claws out onto my back! And I’m wearing an
open-back, thin top! I can’t tell whether she drew blood, because, you know, my
head doesn’t turn 180 degrees. But it sure smarts!
Earl, on the other hand, is showing a keen interest in
the toilet! Not even flushing deters him! I’m just waiting for the splash – but
nothing so far. Mewthos, too, is still keen on the toilet, but quite wary of
the water in it.
