A day at home with four Mip Mips

Good night, early morning to let Ziva out. Later Mewthos investigating my nose followed by Earl, Quizzy Lizzy and later Lady Jane.

Took the car to the auto electrician, read my book, now I’m back home. This new trend of all cats crowding around me on the toilet is disconcerting. Sigh, better get into the habit of closing the door! Seriously – what’s up with that?

Nearly noon, the mommies went out an hour ago. I’ve deep cleaned the litter box and the litter corner. Again. As soon as I put new sand in and the litter box back – Lady Jane went to use it! Told you!

Now Shadow is outside the door making a racket! Well, meowing. Only – she doesn’t want to come in, she is adamant the Mip Mips go out. Now I have three Mip Mips clawing under the door to get out and Shadow clawing under the door to get them out. Isn’t life with six cats fun?

Eventually they give up and go to sleep
And then there’s Mewthos. He LOVES having me at home all day, he just loves to nap in my lap! They’ve grown to a size where stroking them actually requires motion, not just putting your hand down, covering them. Now Lady Jane has joined Mewthos on my lap and starts cleaning his ears.

Oh, and those sown-in bra-lets? Perfect kitten carriers! Mewthos loves sleeping there!

Well, another day spent cleaning up after kittens. Cleaned the litter corner in the bedroom, vacuumed the bedroom, and cleaned the food corner. I filled the garbage bag with all the sand, paper, etc – so I took the bag out. So I’ll have two bags on Monday. Doesn’t sound like much, summarized like that, does it? But there’s a trick: The vacuum is in the spare bedroom – where kittens are banned. So getting in there, getting the vacuum – not so simple. Then, when I’m cleaning the litter corner – I have four kittens watching my every move, jumping in to ‘help’. When I vacuum – they scatter. Into the lounge. Where they can’t play without supervision – since they still jump onto the table, on to the curtains, and try to chew wires. Then, when I want to shake out the throws before washing them, I have to have kittens shut in the bedroom – which means catching four zooming kittens, one by one, and getting them into the bedroom without any of those already in there getting out! And, of course, once I open the front door – Ziva comes in, and she wants to first go to the bedroom. Then she wants personal attention. And then there’s Shadow. And in between I also had to take the bedding out of the machine, spread it on the bed, fold it, put it away – all with four kittens hopping up, pawing, wanting to be involved. So, what used to be a simple, one-hour job is now quite a mission!

Shame, Rose is still busy – hasn’t been home, yet. The sun is out, but it’s extremely windy. Rose mentioned gale-force wind forecast for today – so I’m not sure whether gardening is even an option. So I went down to check it out, took some photos, but no – too windy.

And I still have to fetch my car sometime this afternoon, take Ziva to the vet to have her stitch removed and it’s the work Christmas dinner tonight as well. So I open the bedroom door to let the kittens out to play – and guess what I found?

Yeah, that’s Earl. So if anyone was wondering about this ‘can’t play in the lounge without supervision’ part, thinking maybe I’m exaggerating? And yes, this time I took a photo before I ‘rescued’ him.

Fed the Mip Mips again, then went into the lounge, trimmed my Chives … to find Lizzy hanging on the window sill by her claws! She had jumped up, grabbed hold and was about to pull herself up onto the window sill! This little 20cm Mip Mip jumped to grab hold of the sill over 85cm off the ground!

Well, the car is done. On the way to pick it up Rose showed me where Quizzy Lizzy will live. Lucky Lizzy!

I was worried about taking Ziva to the vet, but she went into the cat carrier without a fight, wasn’t really much trouble on the way – sure, vocal, but that’s Ziva! I also got some probiotics for the Mip Mips – their tummies seem to have been running. Not just the Mip Mips, mommy’s as well. But the whole trip didn’t take long – no waiting line, straight in, stitch out, get meds, and back home. No use mixing them food now, since Ziva went straight into patient-mommy mode when she came back – she’s been letting the Mip Mips nurse for quite some time.

Now I’m taking a break until it’s time to go to the Dinner. Better use this time to post.
