Got to bed lovely and early last night. At one point
Quizzy Lizzy grabbed Long-Sleeve, held him in her arms and gave him a good wash
– so cute! The went to sleep with him in her arms.
Woke up so early, it was still dark! Thank you, Ziva!
Grumble. There was a lot of noise in the bedroom this morning, including
retching – lovely to wake up to, isn’t it? Should I even mention the even worse
noise that followed that?
It is high time that the kittens start going to their
furever homes – I can’t keep up with this much longer. Four kittens is simply
too many! Even with two mommy-cats ... they take turns, I take breaks. If you
can call going to work a break. The hour I shut them in the bedroom in the
evenings is the only real break.
Today I do not even want to go home! The bedroom
smells – so when I get home, the first thing I’ll have to do is clean the
bedroom. Hopefully I can open a window for a while – but I’ll have to sit in
the bedroom watching the window like a hawk, or some Mip Mip will take a stoll
on the wild side!
They are all eager to get out the front door, outside
– as yesterday’s episode proved. But I just can’t handle four kittens running
loose outside – even if both mommies keep watch. The mommies WANT the kittens
to explore, and I don’t know how far the mommies will allow the kittens to go.
Tonight I better put another poster out there for
their adoption – last time I got a lot of comments from people wanting to
share, but couldn’t; I think it has something to do with their setting, as some
people could share. So I better prepare an image file that includes the text –
giving my number as well, which I didn’t give last time. I don’t want them to go,
but I can’t keep them any longer either. Wedged firmly between a rock and a
hard place.
Back at home, I’ve been extremely busy since I
arrived. Ziva demanded attention – four hours later and she still demands
attention! She is driving me absolutely bananas! I’ve thrown her out numerous
times, simply because I cannot handle her continuous, non-stop meowing for
attention. It’s just too much!
I’ve cleaned out the litter boxes – hopefully I can
dry the sand tomorrow. I’ve fed the Mip Mips and let them run amok in the flat.
Which they did. Their favourite toy appears to be the laundry hamper. They all
love climbing in, playing with each other – one inside, one outside. Pulling
out laundry and parading it around. Naturally it’s my underwear they parade most
proudly. Sigh.
Mewthos had me a bit worried. Yesterday he seemed to
have trouble widdling – he’d dig his hole, then meow pitifully. Today, after
eating, he crawled into the cat carrier to sleep instead of climbing onto my leg,
as usual. He also seemed to me quite thin. Well, turns out I’m just over
reacting. I took him outside for a walk – and he played and explored quite
happily. All kittens are thinner – which I’m now thinking is quite natural as
they loose their baby-fat. They are all eating well.
Well, Short-sleeve still eats only off the spoon – she
doesn’t take to crowding around a bowl. Until I put sardines into Ziva’s
treat-bowl … then she’s quite happy to crowd with her mother and siblings for
her share.
I also took the Mip Mips out for a gambol outdoors –
on a leash! One by one. Mewthos quite enjoyed exploring leisurely. Quizzy Lizzy
enjoys jumping on the fence, climbing up in hopes of visiting Rose? Well,
sorry, but that’s the reason for the leash – keeping her within reach.
Short-sleeve, however, is quite a different story! She races down the stairs
and along the path so fast, I’m having trouble keeping up with her! Now I know
WHICH twin gave us (the mommies and me) such a fright yesterday! Well, we both
got a lot of exercise out of that! Long-sleeve, however, didn’t get a turn
outside today. I’ll have to make it up to him tomorrow.
I want them to associate the leash with fun, not
restraint. And I will NOT let them out together again. Lastly I opened my
bedroom window for a while – sat reading my book to prevent any Mip Mip going
out.
I put together a single image with pictures of each
twin, giving my cell number. One friend has already shared it – let’s hope I
find good homes for them. And soon – for my sanity’s sake.
When Ziva came back in, I gave her oodles of
attention. Eventually she went through to the bedroom, where I brushed her –
but she walked off. Mewthos, however, came to be brushed, loving every minute.
Then he followed me to the lounge, where I had to pick him up on to my lap. Then
discourage him from climbing on my desk. I’m having a hard time with all the
Mip Mips wanting to get onto the table or my desk. Finally turning away from my
desk, Mewthos tried jumping on the round grey surface next to my chair – which happens
to be my swivel-lid waste bin and poor Mewthos ended up stuck head first in the
bin, with his legs hanging outside! I picked him out right away, so he
definitely wasn’t hurt – and the bin is quite full, so he landed softly. I use
it only for paper, so there’s no mess either. But it was just too funny! Even
just remembering the image has me laughing helplessly!
After gobbling her treat, Ziva came to lie on the
spare chair in the lounge – something she hasn’t done since the Mip Mips were
born. The Mip Mips for their part have crawled into the cat carrier to sleep.
Not for long though.
They’re all up again – and I want to go sleep. Sigh.
