Just Monday

When I got to my bedroom last night, they had all been sitting on the window sill – and plopped out one after the other as I came in; that was quite funny! Three kittens and Ziva (one stayed under the bed).

While I’m reading my book, the kittens played – they are no longer zooming from one end of the room to the other like pinballs. They’ve explored my shelf of plush toys and plopped the monkey off the shelf – he now sits in front of the cat carrier, guarding the entrance. Ziva is in snuggle mode, comes to lie quite close so I can pet and stroke her with one hand, while I hold my book with the other. Every now and then I have to push kitten and/or cat teeth away – evidently books taste good? Then Ziva deigns to lie still while her kittens nurse – this is when the fourth one comes out from under the bed to join the meal.

I’m happy to report that all four kittens now widdle INSIDE the box! I’ll exchange the newspaper & black bags again on Wednesday and see whether there are any wet spots by Saturday.

This morning I woke up being pushed out of the way – all the Mip Mips were feeding and needed the room. They were not happy having to stay inside today – sorry, but I have to go to work. And your mother’s can’t be trusted, I’m afraid. Shadow came up as I was locking the gate – sorry, no visit this morning, you’re too late, I’m afraid.

Work is a bit frustrating – I’m updating documentation, but the checklist they gave me is incomplete. Fortunately for the planner, I’m exceptionally thorough – he, however, is very sloppy. Which makes the task unnecessarily complicated.

I booked the car in for electrical repairs – when I described the radio problem I’m having, he said the only thing he can do is disconnect the radio. Dang, that’s no solution! But at least I won’t be standing with a flat battery – I’ll have to find out who will friggin’ REPAIR this crap. They will, however, check and fix all the other electrical problems I have with the car. They’re fully booked this Wednesday, so I booked it for next week.

Back at home the gardener showed up unexpectedly today – good thing I had made provision, just in case! He’s quite obsessed with saving the lawn, so he spends most of his time weeding – especially all those nasty big flat weeds near the path. He also trimmed the hedge by the gate. Quite substantially! Next time he’ll tend to the rockery.

The Mip Mips were quite happy to see us – Rose came up with me. They played exuberantly. Quite enjoyable – we had about an hour’s fun with them! When Rose left, Shadow and Ziva went out, but not for long. They came back in and stayed with the Mip Mips until just after seven, when Shadow went home. Erm, correction – she’s outside the door now asking to come back in – it’s after eight!

Someone is very keen on adopting Short Sleeve – if her semi-feral returns home. Shame, she left four days ago, for no apparent reason. They had just started bonding. I can not imagine the heart break, not even close. I do hope her cat returns! Soon!
