A new trick!

Yeah, no! They zoomed through the bedroom until nearly half ten! Oh, and Ziva? She spent half the evening balancing on the fanlight frame! Seriously! I don’t know what was up with her, but she wanted neither in nor out, nor food nor attention – she was just horribly restless.

I’ve also figured out why I am so awfully drained and tired all the time, even when I get ‘enough’ sleep. I may get enough hours of sleep, but I’m not really allowing myself to sink into deep sleep! I remain tense and alert for any happenings in my bedroom. I realized this as I was reading my book, I’m not really loosing myself in the story, as I normally do – and when I do, I sort of jerk myself back to keep an ear on the Mip Mips. And tense up.

So, now I have to figure out a solution – like … don’t stress? Ha! That’s going to work, isn’t it? Actually, I’ve had to learn to ‘not stress’ courtesy of a spastic colon – oh, excuse me, I think the fashionable term now is ‘Irritable Bowel Syndrome’. I’m quite lucky with mine, in that I have very, very rare bad experiences – but when I tense or stress, it sort of kicks in and I’m in pain. Makes Periods kind of extra fun! Anyway, I’ve had to learn to dial down stress quite substantially. Like: switching off work en route rather than taking it home. Relaxation exercises to learn to fall asleep – it used to take me literally over an hour, sometimes even hours, just to stop tossing and turning. Now I put down my head and fall asleep in about half an hour. So I should be able to stop myself keeping an ear out for the Mip Mips at night.

Awww, Mewthos is such a goofball! He has this excited hop with all four feet in the air. It is so cute when he does that bunny-kind hop off the chair onto the flower pot, or off the nightstand onto bed. Or when he hops towards me when he sees me in the room. Or when he hops onto his mommy when she comes in from outside.

Well, there’s someone seriously interested in adopting Earl, if she can take him, I have a good feeling he’d be in a good forever home. Everybody hold thumbs! I should know tomorrow evening.

Since the Mip Mips were taking a nap, I decided to join them. Sure need sleep more than they do! I claimed as much of the duvet as I could and laid down – Mewthos decided my tummy is warmer than the duvet, so he came and snuggled up to me. Eventually Ziva had enough of it – she’d also been napping – and woke everybody up! So I got up, kicked her out – yes, into the rain! She doesn’t mind rain. Weird cat, I know. Anyway, the Mip Mips got as far as the lounge, climbed onto the chair and are continuing their nap.

Well, except for Mewthos, who is under my feet, on my lap, in my arms, peeking over the table … until I give in, sit down on the floor and start to play with him. Of course the entire hoard join in! I’ve got some chores to do, though, so play time is a bit limited. Fortunately Shadow saunters in and takes over.

Oh, and in case you think I forgot the bird? He’s doing quite well! He pecked the mousse as clean, as if he’d licked the bowl! So, of course, I give him more. He’s also eaten some grapes, but he evidently prefers the mousse.

In an effort to help me do the dishes, Mewthos climbed up nearly on to the counter – he used the drawer handles like a ladder! Smart kitty! Of course the rest of the Mip Mips learn very quickly – so now I have to keep an eye on the drawers while I’m doing dishes! Like, my life has been way too simple anyway, so let’s complicate it. And they will open the top drawer, THEN climb into a lower drawer to investigate. Sneaky!

Rose reminded me that Ziva pulled her jumping stunt again this morning – how come she knows this? Because she actually saw her make that jump! She was in her lounge having coffee when she saw movement on her porch. As she looked around she saw Ziva get ready to jump, and then actually jump from the corner of her wall on to the roof over her stairs! That is quite a jump!

You know the worst thing about taking a bath? I’m very near sighted, so without my glasses everything past 20 cm gets blurry. So, all those little kitty-scratches show up as red blotches – and in the bath? My legs look like a join-the-blotch puzzle! Of course Mewthos coming in preparing to jump into the bath didn’t exactly help me relax! I splashed him … and one of the twins … until they left and closed the door!

Well, Ziva has been playing with her kittens for the past hour! Which means I have five pinballs zooming around! And since I want to make dinner, I better lure them into the bedroom with a treat, so I have some privacy. Which doesn't go as smoothly, now that Mewthos is using the drawer handles to try and reach the counter to 'help'! Pick him off, pick off Lizzy (who learned from Mewthos) and try to open the tin. Yay! The lounge is MINE!
