Lady Jane & Earl (Grey)

It seems the next accident is in the making: Quizzy Lizzy is showing extreme curiosity about my bathing! She kept popping in to see what I was doing, even though I splashed her. Repeatedly.

Not an early night, though, since I still had to bath, cook dinner and eat – which I ended up doing at nine! Last night I went to be early, because I cut dinner-time. Can’t do that two nights in a row.

Ziva is still being ‘good’. Yes, she wants attention, but she’s making less noise about it than she has in the past. Maybe it will last?

As expected, not a good night. At one point a Mip Mip launched off my face – I was sure I’d have scratches across my lip today, but I got lucky. The skin is tender but you need to look very closely to see the red welts, only inside my nose did the claw draw blood, though so little, it really isn’t visible.

I let Ziva out around five and went back to bed. Got up about half seven – more like dragged myself out. I did not get enough sleep, and I don’t want to know how long until it catches up with me. Not a good day ahead.

At work I got some unpleasant news: my car access will not be extended next year, since it is not the desired make. Ah well, not a major issue, since my hours next year – once everyone has gone to Pretoria – will also decrease further. I’ll probably have 2 days or three half days of work.

Back at home, Rose had a tough day. I hope the cavorting and cuddling Mip Mips cheered her up! Mewthos’ toilet dive had her laughing, at least. At the moment Daft Wullie fits him better than Mewthos – first he dives head first into the paper bin, then into the toilet. And he has a kind of happy-kitten-waddle when he’s running towards me that is quite endearing. Like Daft Wullie. No, I’m not going to change his name, it’s just a phase. He won’t have the happy-kitten-waddle forever, but it is so very cute!

He also hasn’t finished exploring the toilet, I’m afraid. Yeah, I know. You’d think having jumped into water would cure the cat’s curiosity, but no. I still have to literally push him away when I use it. As soon as I’m off, he’s on … the lid. Yeah, I’ve gotten THAT fast! Then on the cistern – and even flushing doesn’t worry him. Nor the running tap. Only the clonking pipes, which are so loud, it is heard throughout the building!

Well, it's the bathroom -
you don't expect me to take photos
with me ON the toilet, now do you?
Another interesting discovery: Cats like potatoes! I had steamed myself potatoes for dinner, and Ziva was nagging for … I don’t know what. So I held out a piece of potato to her, expecting her to turn away in disgust. Nope. She goes at it eagerly! Ditto Mewthos.

Oh, and another surprise tonight: Quizzy Lizzy is engaging Ziva in play! They’ve chased each other from bedroom to lounge and tackled each other like two kittens!

The Mip Mips are looking worryingly thin, almost skeletal. Especially Mewthos. I can almost count his ribs when he walks by. Rose noticed it, too. We can only surmise that they’re going through a growth-spurt, loosing their baby-fat. They are eating well. They are lively, not lethargic. They don’t have worms – shouldn’t have, either, as they were dewormed. I’ve changed the kibbles just now – as even Ziva is turning her nose up at the Epol. But I’ve given them plenty alternatives since the Epol was in the dispenser. Well, let’s see whether there’s any change, soon.

He loves climbing up there

For the past hour Ziva has been actively playing with her brood – zooming around, chasing, tackling, and tumbling. She’s managed to tire out three of the Mip Mips – they’re hiding in the cat carrier, napping. Only Lady Jane is still zooming after Ziva.

Oh, yes, I’ve named the female twin Lady Jane. She doesn’t like to crowd around a bowl for food – but prefers to eat off a spoon. And I’ve linked her widdling-trouble to the state of the litter-box. When the sand is all fresh and clean, she’s quite happy to go inside – but as soon as it’s used, she widdles outside the box. Well, with six cats using one box – maintaining her preferred level of cleanliness is NOT possible! Really. Her ladyship will just have to find a one-cat household. And with the sister named Lady Jane (Grey), the obvious name for her twin would be Earl (Grey). Her Ladyship with fine English Tea.

And finally Lady Jane is tired as well. Climbed up on the chair to nap with mommy.

Time for me to get some sleep, as well.
