Lock-down Day 268

Although I woke up very early, I turned over and finally got up after eight! Taking it really, really easy, ignoring Janey's attempts to engage me in play ...

Almost ten and I've finally come out. Got dressed and I think I'll start mowing ... half an hour later, and the back patch of lawn is mowed. Now moving to the front ... three quarter hour later and I've re-mowed half of what I had previously mowed out front. Problem is, the sun is blazing!

Half an hour later and I've re-mowed everything. I considered carrying on, gaining more lawn ... but frankly, it's quarter to noon, overcast with odd rays of sun blazing through. Mowing in this weather is asking for serious trouble!

Guess what? Easy guess! Yeah, I put up the Gazebo! The manufacturers are somewhat devious: first, the place the canvas right at the top, under the opening of the box; then put a warning on the box: do not use a sharp object to open the box, as that can cut the canvas & will void your warranty! And just to make it difficult, they place extra shipping stickers across that, too. There is no way to open it without a sharp object! I lifted the two sides and sliced very carefully through JUST the tapes. Part two of their deviousness? Assembly instructions require two people! Ah, well, I managed. It's up over the back lawn and I got busy clearing the borders again.

I cleared all along the house, then worked a bit along the bed, away from the house - but I found myself sitting in the sun. There is a limit to the shade the gazebo can provide, as I can't put it up across all the fencing - and then the position of the sun limits where the gazebo shades. Not a problem, though. It's still giving me a lot more options where I want to work!

So, I put it up along the fence by the Jacaranda tree, and worked along that border. Then I moved past the fence and worked the other side. I made quite a lot of progress ... well, that's not exactly correct. Most of what I'm doing now isn't actually progress - I'm just combating the growth started by the rains! And maintaining what I've won. It's still not back to the state it was when I moved in, though. That should be a bit demotivating, shouldn't it?

Well, there's the 10% that's progress. Every day. Not much, given how much and how hard I'm working, but it's there! And growing. Every day!

Well, I've bathed, fried and eaten dinner, it's quarter past nine and I'm ready to sleep ...
