Lock-down Day 258

Woke up with a headache again! Mild one, though, so I got up, dressed, had coffee and went to work.

Apparently, crime is rising alarmingly at the moment. I was shown a video of a customer parking her bakkie outside, and while she was inside, a van (which had driven by earlier) stopped, the driver got out and checked the back of the bakkie! Fortunately, there was nothing to take - but right outside, when the customer could have come out again any minute, or anyone could have watched! I'm also told, they followed another guy from the ATM back to his workshop, then held the place up at gun point - a few meters away from us! Smashed the computers, etc. Really bold ... and worrying!

Well, work was ... workish. Nothing to write home about. Oh, I went and got milk and cheese ...

I did put in leave for two weeks! I'm told I have enough days accumulated - lucky me! And - unlike others - I will not be on stand-by while I'm on leave!

I really need the mental break more than the physical one! Two weeks out of the chaos, immersed in the joy of gardening!

Back at home, I started mowing everything again! I re-mowed everything I had mowed last week - it's now all at the same length. Wasn't much work, either, just walking the mower up and down, emptying the bag, walking up and down again. Well, okay, so some patches were tougher than others, but I was done fairly quickly!

I'm afraid Mewthos got into a fight with our outsider. Just outside the gate. Neither seems injured, and I didn't tell Mewthos off - after all, he's just defending his home ... still ... I wish I could explain to him WHY I feed that poor thing! Well, I started mowing by the gate, which set Mewthos running towards the house!

Well, when I finished re-mowing, I tried continuing along the roses, but with all that clover between the grass, it wasn't very successful. So I tried mowing the partition by the Loquat tree. That's not going to work at all ... too much pavement! So, I got my tools and started weeding. I thought whether I should start by weeding or sweeping - there's quite a thick layer of ... soil, seeds and leaves. Weeding first would seem to be the best option, though, as I can get all the little plants out WITH their roots. If I sweep first, most of those are likely to break off. I didn't seem to make much progress, but I've got a plan now, so there's that!

During my victory smoke I contemplated what I should do tomorrow after work. I think I should carry on mowing the front lawn. Yes, there are patches where I may need to cut the grass by hand - I should sharpen my shears, not try using my little garden scissors, though. But there's a lot that can still be mowed - the sooner I get that mowed, the better! I can tackle the areas that are totally overgrown last.

Well, mippies came inside - Janey came last - I fed them their treats, they are happy mippies! I had meat for dinner, which made them even happier - though only Ziva ate any of my Boerewors! The others all turned their nose up at it - even Mini! Ah, well!
