Lock-down Day 254

Woke up to a rainy morning - lovely! That means indoor pottering, no gardening, though. Well, I must confess, I wasn't too keen on continuing the lawn mowing ... truth be told, I had counted on having help by now. It really is too much work for one person, regardless of age or gender! Well, a young man just MIGHT be able to keep up, but an old woman?

Well, I had better accept that I'm on my own! Not a problem, I'll just have to find an attitude that allows me to enjoy mowing the lawn every week! A walk through my garden, like I used to do in PE!

Sigh, four mippies traipsing wet paws through the house - coming to me for play time, as it's wet outside! I'm stuck to the PC, catching up on lost time ...

Well, that didn't last long. By around ten it had stopped raining and I felt the call of the garden! I started by re-mowing the lawn out back - mowing wet grass is quite messy, though. It's a good time to pull out tall weeds, though! I went through the front lawn and pulled out everything that stuck out! Quite a job! Then I went to clean it under the trees ... bad move! Yes, I pulled out all the tall weeds, but I also saw the state of those trees! A LOT of dead branches - not just little ones, but whole parts of the tree need axing! I got out my cutters and cut off everything I could reach - especially the dead branches growing over the wall! I also cut that creeper off the wall ...

Then I started on the clover field! The tricky part - for me - was, not to get side-tracked with weeding. Staying on purpose: clearing the lawn! I did allow myself the pleasure of pulling out a couple of thorns, though.

Unfortunately, I sliced my finger quite badly, in the process. Quite a deep cut, I'm afraid. No weeding after that! At that point, my neighbour poked his head over the wall and we had a natter! I finally met his wife, too. They both think Mewthos is just too beautiful for words! They love his colouring! Well, he IS  beautiful boy!

He suggested I contact the tenant at the brick face house, as he can be hired to mow lawn and do gardening. Well, not he doing it, but his workers. Given the size of the lawn, I really don't think there's much chance of me coping on my own! And with so much dead wood everywhere - I really think it would be a good idea to have someone do the lawn mowing, at least every second week. And then I can focus on doing what I love doing: weeding!

Yes, I did make quite good progress - but I still haven't even finished half the lawn! Well, okay, maybe half - but none of the separated gardens. Well, I did clear some of the paving and pulled out tall weeds in one ... but really, it's just too much for one person!

He also told me that that stray black and white cat was definitely left behind by the previous tenant! Who would do that? Seriously! THAT is something I cannot comprehend! Today I saw that cat going through the bedrooms again ... looking for ... his humans, I now guess. That is so sad! I keep feeding him ... that's all I can do for him. Poor baby!

Well, I'm really enjoying Rosemary & Thyme, my DVDs - a charming mystery series!
