I had a
really weird dream this morning. One of those distorted ones, where you jump
from one situation into another seemingly at random. At one stage there were
two cats, Silver and a black cat – but it wasn’t Mynx (Mynx was pitch black
with emerald green eyes – unless he was upset, then his eyes turned yellow).
Then I was walking behind my sister who was inspecting the place she had rented
for her Yoga-Birthday Party. Don’t ask – it makes no sense to me, either.
Anyway, she was leading me up stairs and onto some climbing contraption going
higher and higher until my vertigo kicked in and I just had to stay behind. She
was walking along a pipe high up off the ground with no concern. Weird. Next
I’m stuck in traffic in the middle of New York. In a Taxi. And a vampire
sharing the Taxi. Who opens his mouth and is about to bite me ... when I
finally woke up!
When I say
‘weird’ I’m not kidding! It kind of stayed with me throughout the day, I
couldn’t really shake the climbing nor the vampire.
Work was
good. I had switched off my work-myself-up mode and went back into cheerful,
getting-things-done one-by-one mode. No more frustrations, no worries. And now
the internet is off, so there’s not much I can do.
And now I
don’t even have anything to write about. Sigh. I have been thinking a lot about
writing about Admin – but I need to do some research, find out what is already
available. No need to re-invent the wheel. Textbooks are plentiful! But who,
these days, still makes use of a simple text-book? When they can watch a Video
on YouTube? Or download an eBook? See where I’m going? I want a cut of that! Of
course, I could also get involved into this current trend of ‘self-help,
feel-good-about-yourself’ inspirational market, but I don’t think I want to go
quite that low! I sometimes take the time to read some of those memes flooding
Facebook and just shake my head. When it was new, in my twenties – yeah, sure!
And there are some, which really have meaning. But such a lot of them are so
hostile, so self-centred and so ... silly! Maybe I’ll take some apart one of
these days, but not now.
I went to
one of those ‘use body language to manipulate people’ workshops once. Not by
choice, it was compulsory at the company where I worked at the time. And no,
that’s now how they spun it – it had one of those improve-yourself spins to it.
A member of the audience asked whether sign language was the same as body
language. The instructor launched into a glorious speech about sign language being
used by the blind. Yeah. Before I could stop myself I chirped up ‘Deaf’ –
instantly becoming persona-non-grata. If looks could kill, I’d have dropped
dead under the weight of all the daggers thrown my way!
I got to
thinking, about that Admin writing. If it was written by a male Executive, that
alone would market it big time. Disgusting, isn’t it? Have no fear, greed will
not lead me to such betrayal! It was just a thought. But what I’m still missing
is an angle, an approach. What I mean is: who is my target audience? That’s how
I got to that stray thought, because my inspiration are practical business
owners, e.g. engineers, etc. who presume that ‘the wife’ can do all things to
do with paper. Some wives have the talent – but most don’t. They muddle along
and learn as they go along. Whether it’s the wife or some other female relation
– they are never well-suited. Some really try their best and appreciate any
help; yet others … don’t. Here’s an idea for a title “Help! My husband started
a business, now I should do the admin – where to start?”
Ah, well,
leave such musings for another time. Now for some photos of my lovely flowers!
 |
| Isn't this just such a joy of colourful loveliness? |
 |
| I managed to capture that deep blue |
 |
| Three patches of pink among the white |
 |
| Pale pink petals |
 |
| These close every night |
 |
| Open by day, closed by night - I'll have to wait for the weekend to see it open! |
 |
| So tiny and almost scraggly, yet such rich colour! |
 |
| See what I mean about that deep blue? |
 |
| These tiny gems hide on the lawn |
 |
| Our rockery! Blooming quietly |
 |
| I just LOVE these! And see? There's a flower coming, too! |
 |
| These look so - fresh! ;) |
 |
| This is one happy cabbage-plant, new leaves every time we look! |
 |
| Luscious green leaves sprouting! |
 |
| Tecoma rewarding us for clearing it such room to grow by filling it with flowers! |
 |
| Still hugging itself |
 |
| We also hug ourselves at night! |
 |
| I'm so proud that Carnations are growing in my garden! |
