Bit of a
late start, let the cat out, had coffee, then off to work. As I’m leaving,
Silver comes back inside and shows no interest in coming out, so I left her
indoors. Hoping she figures out the litter box.
Work was not
particularly pleasant. The pressure is on about that deadline task, and it’s
put hard onto me. I don’t get help when I ask for it – I get a lot of ‘it’s
easy, where’s the problem?’ Well, the problem is that the only ‘training’ I had
was doing one single station’s documents with everything arranged, sorted and
labelled. All the ‘ground-work’ had been done. Now I’m doing documentation for
lines where I have to do everything, like figuring out which documents belong
to which location – and the documents themselves are often ambiguous, sometimes
even downright incorrectly labelled. And since it’s now suddenly pressingly
urgent, I’ve been instructed to leave everything else to pile up – regardless.
And when something in that pile becomes pressingly urgent – I’ll get reprimanded
for having left it lying so long. Because the people who instruct me today to
leave everything won’t be around when that decision bites me in the rear. That’s
the downside of my job. It’s not fair, but that’s just the way it is.
It was
interesting to note who noticed that I had cut my hair. I mean, it’s not like
it’s a minor change; it’s not just a slightly different style or just a trim. I’ve
cut off some 20-30cm. I’ve gone from long hair to short. But I guess, since I’d
always kept it tied up in a plait, from the front it’s not glaringly obvious.
It did show me though, to whom I am a person and to whom I am just useful. Well,
in some cases – some, however, may just have been preoccupied.
On the way
home I planned my evening to-do list, as I usually do. Only, when I got home, I
realised I had forgotten the laundry – which I didn’t do over the weekend, so
that’s a must tonight.
Our gardener
didn’t show up at all today – no clue why. So I may have to make a plan to fill
the drum myself. Not tonight, though – too windy.
Silver was
happy to see me, but didn’t run straight out when I opened the door. Maybe she
likes indoors? She did come to sit nearby when I went down to chat with my
neighbour, though. Didn’t move far from me, in fact. I found no ‘make-do’
toilet anywhere inside, I don’t know whether she just held it in all day or
what? She did stay out for a bit – but now she’s back inside, curled up on her
chair.
Ginger came
to explore the food inside while Silver was in the bedroom. I called ‘Silver!
We have a visitor!’ and she came to investigate. It was quite strange, they
gently sniffed each others noses and that was it. Silver let Ginger eat without
any issues. Ginger looks like I always imagine Greebo, if he still had both
eyes and happened to be ginger. I’m quite sure it’s a tomcat – he’s large, big
paws and a look that seems to say ‘Just don’t!’ Although he is very skittish –
even pointing the camera at him made him turn and run … at first. I did manage
to take a few photos – surreptitiously.
There is
another new type of flower about to bloom, today! Or maybe it is already
blooming – but closes at night. The yellow and orange daisies do. And apparently,
so does the maroon one in the corner, as it was closed this morning and
tonight. I also found another purple Iris in bloom in the tomato patch – except
it has fallen over. I may have to stake it tomorrow night. Although it looks
like rain, I decided not to take a chance and watered the garden.
The laundry
is busy, so I better do something about dinner next. I’ve decided on Prego
Rolls – same as I’m taking to work. For tomorrow or Wednesday night I’m
planning a pasta dish with Zucchini, Mushrooms and Spinach. It’ll depend on how
I feel tomorrow night – there’s a lot of prep work involved.
And here the
photos of my garden I promised you yesterday. Oh, and some of Silver!
