Sleep! I so
wish I could get one full night’s sleep! Silver woke me up insistently sometime
in the middle of the night because she needed to go. Have you ever tried to
ignore a cat meowing in that high pitched ‘I WANT NOW’ tone when she sits right
next to your ear? Yeah, I failed as well. But persistently ignored her. If I
get up, I’m wide awake – for at least an hour. So I ignored her. She tried the
other ear. I hit snooze (you know, hand out from under the warm duvet waving
vaguely in the direction where the noise is coming from, a few friendly strokes
once you connect with fur, then slink back under the duvet). In desperation she
eventually explored the litter box option! Yay! Lets hope she sticks to that
from now on!
I see an
e-mail from the Agency stating they have changed their banking details as off
today (their spelling, not mine). All payments must be made into the new
account. Very unprofessional. I wonder what happened?

re work.
I am so
tired. Silver went out this morning so I hope she tires herself throughout the
day so that tonight she’ll sleep. All night, please! I’ll top up the litter box
– I don’t want to clean it (there’s no smell, thanks to the ‘eco-friendly odor
absorbing pellets’ I use) or she might ‘learn’ that this, too, is not the right
place. Like she learned about the kitchen mat – which I took away and cleaned
right away. And she learned about the bathroom mat – ditto. Can’t blame her,
she’s really quite clever. And she did wake me up to let her out, rather than
just quietly use a corner. Quite clever, indeed.
She also
turned her nose up at the chicken in gravy. She licked up the gravy, but left
the meat. That’s when my memory finally kicked in: Cats don’t like variety in
their food – they prefer the same food every day. With the odd treat, sure, but
don’t change flavours. So stick with the Salmon flavoured tins – same price and
she likes that. Funny though, with her bird-diet, I’d have thought she’d take
to chicken. Ah, well. Lesson learned (or rather, remembered).
I’ve been
walking around like a Zombie for the past couple of days – up and about, going
through the motions, but not completely with it. Like conscious sleep-walking.
So I’ve decided on a very, very early night tonight. Started by feeding the
cat. Gave her another sachet. Which she scoffed down in record time. Gave her
another sachet. It followed with the same speed! And each time I take her bowl
to fill it she meows pitifully! You’d think the silly thing was starving!? She
watched my every move as I make my own lunch for tomorrow! Followed me into the
bathroom – again! Left in a hurry when I dripped a few drops of water on her –
there has to be some me-time, pregnant cat or not! After the bath I relented
and opened a tin of salmon cat food – same performance! At least she only
half-finished her bowl! I’m putting the other tinned food out for the strays –
like the presumably Silver-brother. Who was outside helping himself when I
peeked just now.
It’s seven
pm and I’m off to bed. Wishing for a full night’s sleep!
