The
neighbours cat came to wolf down the tinned chicken which Silver won’t eat –
and by his presence, keeping Silver away. She came in just as I was closing up,
so she slept indoors again. Still no kittens! Interesting episode this morning,
when Dark Silver came inside first to eat, then went into my bedroom. Silver
let him eat, although she gave him rather dirty looks. But when he went into
her domain, she asserted herself! Fur went flying and cats came shooting out
the door! Silver stayed on guard outside for some time – until I wanted to
leave. Then she settled down inside again.
More flowers
opened this morning! I’ll post photos tonight, for sure!
I didn’t
bother to pack any lunch for today, which I’m now regretting. I’m finally
getting around to updating our Health & Safety file, dull but necessary.
One of my German colleagues is trying to convince me that I would have a much
better life if I ‘came back’ to Germany. She is convinced that since I have
nothing she recognises as ‘a life’ here, it would make no difference. She has
completely different values – and dismisses mine. I get that a lot, and it’s
quite frustrating. Yeah, but the German government would pay all sorts of
things – why hold on to independent life-style? Why do you want to life your
life, free – when you can tie yourself to someone else’s purse? Funny how those
very same people always complain about all the foreigners in their country
draining the taxes. Ah, well.
I decided to
blow work at two. Obviously with permission. Took advantage of the early start
to do some of my grocery shopping today, still. Not very smart as I entered the
Friday afternoon peak. With it’s accompanying selfish ‘parking’. One guy let
his wife out right at the door then stayed there – blocking everyone trying to
drive into the parking lot! Oh, you could drive around him – carefully!
Anyway, I
treated myself to some chocolate mousse and a fruit salad. When I got home the
flowers, which opened this morning, were closed again. I tried taking some
photos, but the wind is just too strong – all the flowers are waving about like
drunken sailors, no chance for a clear image! Now I’m at a bit of a loose end –
should I take advantage of the early afternoon by spending it in the garden? They
forecast showers for tomorrow.
So I spent
an hour in the garden. Silver joined me. Smart girl, she sat in the sun while I
worked in the shade. After an hour the wind just got too cold, so I gave up and
came inside. Pepper steak for dinner accompanied by a greedy queen (pregnant cat)
pawing at me wanting what she perceives to be her share. No such distraction
while I enjoy my Chocolate Mousse, though – which was delicious!
Shame, poor
beast is in full waddle mode. She literally waddles, with her bulge swaying
from left to right with every step. It can’t be much longer now. She’s forever
busy with the food bowl, not so much eating as continuously nibbling something.
In the meantime, every cat in the neighbourhood seems to be trying out my flat.
After this morning’s episode, I’m stepping in. They can eat from the bowl
outside – that’s what it’s there for. But inside is mine and Silvers domain.
Enter at your peril!
