Saturday

Since I went to bed very, very early I woke up very early. Trouble was, at half five, I had no power. Load shedding. So, I turned over, and tried dozing a bit longer ...

When I heard the ceiling fan come on, I got up to make myself coffee.

Okay, I have six hours to get through my chores before the power goes off again. Plenty of time.

Bit of a problem this weekend. When I took a shower, Thursday night, I discovered a leak. Water came through the roof above the shower - only when the shower is running. Which means that a plumber has to come inside my house ... and the floors are in an awful state! I want to clean up, just sweep and wash the floors. Another problem is, that my mop is coming apart ... fun, eh?

Well, the laundry is in the machine and I've turned on the geyser. Sprinkled bleach in the toilet ... watering the grapevine ...

Oh, nice! Half ten and I've already finished everything! Washing is on the line and the kitchen is clean! And I've even started cleaning the bathroom! Sigh ... time to sweep and wash the floors ...

Almost noon and I've almost finished. I'm just about to wash the kitchen floors, then there's only the lounge left. Time to turn everything off, as the power is about to go off ...

I spent the afternoon in the garden. I cleaned up the carport, but when I tried to clean the tomato bed ... well, the sun was just too much. So, I put the sprinkler on and moved into shade. The bed where I tried to grow beans, where my Thyme is doing so well.

Spring is clearly springing in full leap - the Vinca are coming out with plenty of flowers again.

And look how well my Rosemary bush is doing!

And look what's come up next to the Rosemary!

The Thyme is also growing very, very well. It's in full bloom at the moment.

A close-up of the Thyme flowers.

And just look at the plum tree! More leaves than you'd think possible!

Then I tried cleaning up around the Grapevine, but the ground is too hard. I pruned the vine, instead. Reducing the number of branches growing happily away ...

It even looks like little bunches of grapes are already on the vine!

Quarter past five. I'm knackered. I've watered everywhere, placed my new lining into the hanging basket, added soil and sowed Alyssum! I restrained myself, and sprinkled just enough seeds for the basket. At least, I hope so. I also added seeds to the other hanging basket.

I tried sitting on the veranda again ... and ended up working on the tomato bed instead. I did manage to pull out all the tall weeds, already. Looks much, much better! There are hoards of tomatoes growing in that bed - I suspect mostly cherry tomatoes. Growing from the ones that fell. I'm thinning them out quite drastically. I mean there are bushes with dozens of seedlings growing! They won't all survive, so better give one or two a real chance than risk loosing them all.

Sigh ... load shedding from eight to ten tonight. Again. But then I have a twelve hour breather ... next outage only at noon tomorrow. Again.
