Woke up nice and early. These mood swings are
seriously ticking me off! I can’t make sense of them and it is depressing to
wake up with no energy to do what I had planned – for no apparent reason.
Overall, however, I am grateful that low energy and a
bearable headache are the worst I feel. It’s a nuisance – but I’m lucky that it’s
not worse! Lucky and grateful, I really am grateful. I know of people suffering
from depression, I know people suffering with bi-polar disorder and others
suffering chronic pain. I had a taste of ‘chronic pain’ for several months some
twenty-odd years ago – never, ever being able to really sleep really
deteriorates the quality of your life to such an extent, that the pain itself
is overshadowed by that misery. So, despite the low energy and bearable
headache – even on those days I am grateful that I know it will pass. I am not
suffering from any chronic condition – so getting through those days is
relatively easy. Personally, I suspect menopause. And that will pass.
Having woken so nice and early, I was able to get my
groceries quickly, too. The Spar didn’t have bread, though, so I settled for a
ciabatta. It’ll do. The other Spar had no rolls, but they did have a special on
cat food. I also gave a rather expensive cat treat a try.
Back at home, all three LOVE the treat I got them, and
they also LOVE the Whiskas I opened today. Mewly did his twirly thing again –
which seems to arouse him?! Weird!
I’m trying to get my chores done, closely supervised
by my Mips! Mewthos climbed into the washing machine to inspect the laundry;
Lady Jane is now supervising me while I try to do the dishes, demanding lengthy
cuddle sessions when I take a break.
Sjoe, dishes and laundry are done. I cleaned the cat’s
water filter – hanging up laundry is … complicated. Two Mips insist on climbing
into the fan’s box, which I’ve turned upside down to prevent them climbing in.
So now they try to chew their way in! They still chew my books, so they’re not
allowed into the library without supervision.
Right, sand box is clean, now I’m just waiting for it
to dry so I can re-fill it. In the meantime, I don’t know what I should do with
the rest of my afternoon. Should I do something for pleasure? Or should I start
clearing out a drawer?
Well, I started a water colour of a Cosmos. Mips kept
interfering – Mewthos simply jumped onto the table to sniff the paper until I
plopped him off, Lady Jane just jumped onto me, trying to get onto my shoulder
to watch. So I decided to lure them outside … and got the weeding itch. Rose’s
flower beds have quite overgrown with grass – the grass is even higher than her
tallest bushes. So she sat down with a chair and her knitting while I pulled
out as much of the grass and roots as I could. It was quite rewarding – minimum
effort showing maximum improvement. In about an hour I could almost
effortlessly clear out quite a large section! The Mips, of course, helped. Both
watched me very closely and played with some rocks. A good time was had by all!
Back upstairs, first I re-filled the now dry sand box.
And when the Mips climbed in and started digging holes, I closed them right
after – he he he, mommy is being silly! Then I took the rubbish downstairs and
emptied the left-over sand on the path. Packed my lunch, cooked myself steak
and mushrooms for dinner and when Ziva came in, enjoyed a hot oil bath!
Mewthos seems to have lost interest in the bath-thing,
Lady Jane, however, is as curious as ever! To match her Punch, Ziva joined as
her Judy! It was a bit strange with Lady Jane sitting on the rim of the bath,
testing the water with her paw – then shaking it off (at me!) in disgust – and Ziva
standing on the basin, watching me.
I decided to treat them all with a sachet – sigh, but
they make such a mess wanting to get at the jelly without having to eat any of
the chunks of meat inside! Now Mewthos is on the chair next to me, Lady Jane on
the box behind me and Ziva on my bed.
