Oh, Mewly!

When I went to bed last night, Mewthos stayed at the door – I have no idea what he’s waiting for? Half an hour later, I went and carried him to bed – he promptly got up and went back to the door. I woke up once or twice during the night – each time I found Mewly right next to me. Not at my feet, or at the foot end, but right in my face.

When I got up, he needed plenty attention. I didn’t get to drink my coffee in peace, as Mewly needed to be picked up, held, cuddled and have his tummy rubbed. In between he was being very naughty, jumping on the table, even on the kitchen counter! I had to distract them with a sachet again, so I could sneak out to go to work. I’m curious to see whether this change is temporary or permanent. I’m glad today is Friday, though – I get to go home an hour earlier, so they won’t be alone for too long.

At work, I’ve finally got three quotes – sort of. Why can’t these people listen to what I’m asking for? Two of the quotes are not what I requested – but what they assume I should want. Seriously, how do you stay in business?

Then I started clearing out the paperwork – I’ve let it build up for a while, lazy me. In between, I’m surfing cat pictures online – just so I don’t completely loose my temper, ha ha! But I’d better come in on Monday again next week. Preferably every day until this site is cleared – although, I’m still thinking of taking Wednesdays off; just to re-generate the nerves I loose Monday & Tuesday, ha ha!

Back at home, the garden disservice had been there. Sigh. They mowed down a Nasturtium – which I sort of expected, as it was just outside the bed – but then they added insult to injury by carefully picking up each Nasturtium leaf and throwing them at the far end of the vegetable bed! That was unnecessarily malicious.

The mowed down Nasturtium is on the bottom right,
the tossed leaves (with a handful of grass) in the top left

What's left of the Nasturtium ;(

And here's the tossed leaves with a handful of grass.

This is what they call 'service'
What a mess!

Mewthos’ rear is looking a lot better than it did yesterday. I didn’t want to pry too closely, in case he was sore, but yesterday it looked like one brown streak from his bum. Today the fur between bum and the shaved part is white again.

The Mips wouldn’t go outside without me, so I went downstairs and sat on the stairs for a bit. Romeo popped in to eat, then came and joined me by standing on the table downstairs, letting me pet him. When he left, I sat down again, but then I got bored, so I raked the lawn between the path and Rose’s garden. The weather is turning again, clouds are moving in and the breeze is actually quite cold so I went back inside. Suddenly I hear a cat fight – not as intense as usual, so I’m also curious as I rush down to the rescue. I was right, it wasn’t The Terror, but Ziva attacking Romeo. All four cats were in the tree – and Ziva attacked Romeo! Poor thing nearly fell out of the tree! But it was really good to see Mewthos up in the tree! Not as high as Ziva, Romeo and Lady Jane – but up in the tree! He hasn’t been up there since he fell out the window nearly three months ago!

I went back upstairs and shortly afterwards the Mips followed me. They were still restless, though, so I decided to take them back down into the garden to burn off some energy. Mission accomplished.

I stopped to take a picture,
Mewthos sat down, Lady Jane stopped.
We don't go without our human!

This is the farthest Mewthos wandered away from me
He's too close to the gate for my comfort, though

Ziva about to attack ...

Ziva about to jump at Mewthos

Attack complete!

Mewthos loves digging himself little hollows to sit in
I've no clue why - maybe the ground is warmer underneath?

Lady Jane comes to see what Mewthos is doing

Ziva in stealth mode

Mewthos: "I see you, mommy!"
Ziva: "Crap! Exit stealth mode."

Ziva 'chased' Lady Jane up the tree

The flash makes it look almost like a night-shot

Ziva and Lady Jane love being high up in trees!

Ziva and Mewthos watching ... what?

Lady Jane: "Hi, mummy! Urgh - you flashed!"

Shadow coming to look!
I called, but she wouldn't come over
She's not shut in - she can come over anytime

Mewthos wanted to say hi to Shadow
but she left already (you can
see her at the top, about to
go around the corner)

Lady Jane joined Mewthos in
looking for a way to reach Shadow

Poor Shadow, though. Her nose is not looking good, such a pity she’s not coming back to Rose. I wonder, what would have happened if Rose hadn’t trapped her and had her spayed? She was pregnant at the time – what would have happened to her kittens? Sigh – and to mine?! Ziva wasn’t coping before Shadow came to help! Well, Mewthos was so excited to see Shadow, though! Sadly she left before he got there – he kept trying to go through the fence after her!

Back upstairs the Mippies settled together on the chair next to me and Lady Jane started giving Mewthos’ head a good wash! He enjoyed that so much, he turned and shifted into a position where he was resting on Lady Jane, and she could wash him more easily!

After a while, they start playing.

Enough play, rest now
I open the door to call Ziva – usually a futile exercise so early in the evening – but today, she seems to have been waiting outside for me to open! Usually she calls when she’s ready to come in.

I opened a tin of beef for the cats today – the Mips first tuck in, but Ziva turns her nose up at it and stalks off. Sorry, my girl, if that’s not good enough for you, you’ll have to contend with the kibbles.
Almost time for bed now, it’ll be interesting to see how Mewthos behaves tonight – whether he’ll go back to sleeping at the foot of the bed, or whether he’ll be in my face again.
