At work

I woke up just after seven, surprisingly early after the late night. I had my coffee, distracted the Mips with jelly and went to work. Ziva was outside to see me off – she did not want to be stuck inside for the day, though.

At work I’m keeping myself amused by sorting through the filing – throwing out what we won’t need, putting aside what I don’t know and processing everything else. Apart from the site-clearing there are only two more tasks: 1) Updating the Health & Safety file before I hand it in and 2) the Visa application for our electrician. Both are headaches, so I’ve been procrastinating.

Other than that, there is still nothing happening. I’ve sent the one reminder within my scope – the reminders to the project managers I’ll leave for our site manager to do.

Back at home the Mips had a good run in Rose’s garden! Lady Jane discovered that she can jump onto the wooden fence and walk along it – she’s been on and off that fence a lot today! She first watched Ziva jump onto the fence from the bird bath, and followed her example. She’s a clever little Mippie! She’s also the most active of my cats. Mewthos will run just a few steps chasing Lady Jane – while she’ll happily run all the way across to the far end, for the pure joy of running! Ziva is more of a strategist – she’ll lie in wait, observing, planning her move. Then in a short burst of energy, carry out her plan.

As soon as I go upstairs – it was getting a bit nippy – Lady Jane comes up demanding intensive, prolonged cuddling. She gets so enthusiastic when she’s right by my face on my shoulder! She licks every bit of skin she can reach – not often my face, though. My hands, my arms – only occasionally my face.

Mewthos comes up and starts twirling though. Shame, he is always so happy to see Ziva – and Ziva hisses and bats at him to go away. Once back upstairs, all the Mips settle down … deceptively. I’ve tried playing with them, but they’re neither interested in the old games nor their old toys. They want their curiosity and their intelligence challenged – and I don’t quite know how.

Taking a bubble bath with three curious cats in attendance is hilarious! I don’t think Lady Jane or Mewthos have ever seen a bubble bath before – I’ve been showering mostly, and the odd bath I took wasn’t with bubble bath, but bath oils. All three cats were extremely curious about this bubble bath today, it really, really was hilarious! Not only did I have the Punch-and-Judy effect with each of them standing on their hind legs, one after the other, sometimes all together, trying to get a peek at that funny white stuff on top of the water. None of them got onto the rim of the bath, and when I held out some foam for them to sniff, only Ziva gave it a sniff. Lady Jane and Mewthos turned and stalked off in disgust at the mere sight of it! Only to come back soon after because … well, curiosity! And the bobbing heads continue to appear over the rim!

When I finally got out, I had to maneuver around Mewthos, who decided the bath mat is a nice place to sit for him. Then he stood up against the door – closing it! You do NOT want a cat locked inside a bathroom – so I quickly opened it again.
Now they’re all settled around me – after another active play session – hoping to get a treat! Yeah – since they leave it to go off, instead of eating it, I’m not in the mood. I’ll work out a plan over the weekend!
