Another strange, though pleasant, dream this morning:
I dreamed of finding kittens, like Easter Eggs hidden in the grass! Mewthos,
Lizzy, Earl, Lady Jane – and a kitten version of Romeo! Ziva walked with me
finding each kitten basket. I heard the alarm, and Lady Jane was getting
impatient – but I ignored both and snoozed for another hour.
I got up, let Ziva out and tried to make my coffee –
when Romeo caterwauled outside my door! Trying to let him in, without letting
the Mips out was a bit tricky – but I managed. He was so eager to clean the wet
food bowls, he didn’t notice that I closed the door behind him. Then, getting
into the kitchen to make my coffee without frightening him … took a bit of
time. He cleaned out the bowls beautifully, then sat down for a chomp on the
dry food. On his way out he stopped at the scratcher again, gave it several
enthusiastic licks, rolled on it and then let me open the door for him.
It was still early, so I got my shopping done nicely.
Back home, I treated myself to croissants for breakfast. I made myself one with
cottage cheese, Schinkenwurst and capers. Delicious! After breakfast, Rose
returned from her shopping trip as well. As I looked outside, I watched Ziva
climb into Rose’s car and investigate. I tried to get a photo of that – but was
too late.
It was cool on the verge of cold earlier this morning,
but now it’s a hot and sunny day. Invitingly sunny, tempting me to go out in
the garden – but it is too sunny, I would burn. So I should get busy in the
kitchen instead. Sigh.
Right, dishes are done and I’ve washed the floor
twice. Both times with Lady Jane focusing every ounce of curiosity at her
disposal on my activities. Despite the involvement of water.
Hmm, gardening with the Mips! I tried at first to
clear some weeds of the path past the garage, but the Mips were exploring
outside my garden – and the road is there. So I moved to the other end of the
garage. Both Mips in close attendance: I’d loosen some ground to pull weeds and
Mewthos lies down on it – cuddled up to my leg. Lady Jane is playing with a
pebble … right by my bum. The occasional errant claw has me nearly leaping a
foot off the ground! Then The Terror chases Mewthos upstairs so I follow to
chase her out of my garden.
After a break, I continue clearing the worst off the
weeds off the path by the garage – the Mips had settled down for a nap. Not for
long though, Lady Jane come running and mipping for a cuddle! She is such a
cuddle muffin! I left her visiting Rose while I came up for another break.
Lastly, I cleared the grass in front of the cosmos
which are growing – and blooming – outside the bed. Five Gazanias were in bloom
and on a walk around I saw the cabbage plant in the rockery also growing a
flower! As I tried to take a photo of the lovely pink hibiscus in bloom against
the blue sky, I saw a rainbow … well, not much of a bow, more like a piece of
string – quite a short one at that.

The cactus is also flowering
That's the rainbow over the hibiscus - that's all there was: just a short stretch
I tried to get close-ups of the flowers, but it was just too windy

Back upstairs, I fried myself a steak for dinner –
and, as always, Ziva showed up! I wasn’t feeling generous, so she made her big
eyes at me for nothing. I did, however, open a tin of steak & kidney for
them. And as soon as they all had their fill, Romeo came in to clean the bowls!
Correction, to help himself to his fill. Seems he isn’t starving anymore, now
that he’s taken to using my home as a free restaurant!
Well, today was happily productive – I wonder what
tomorrow brings?
